Got one of my Most Wanted for 2004 yesterday... Open Range. Damn fine western. Best shootout scene this side of Tombstone.

I would rank them as such...

#1 Tombstone
#2 Open Range
#3 Silverado

but 2 and 3 are pretty close. The cinematography of Open Range is some of the finest I've seen not put out there by Edward Zwick (yes, I know he's a director and not a DP - but all his movies are so beautifully shot). And the scattershot style to the gun battle at the end is incredible. A bit like Saving Private Ryan in the old west. Not as consistently intense, mind you, since there are so many fewer combatants in OR, but damn good all the same. I guess maybe you can compare the camerawork in the gunfight to some of the fighting sequences in Enemy at the Gates... when it's intense, it's really intense; and then there are the suspenseful interim sequences. You've gotta see this movie.

Nice to see that Tombstone is still #1. You guys should really see Once Upon a Time in the West; absolutely amazing western that still holds up 35 years later.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

I've been wanting to see that one, too. Nothing will ever beat Tombstone in my book. Greatest damn western ever.

Cool, but I really wanna get Looney Tunes: Back in Action that month. BTW, the SEs of Lilo & Stitch and Pocahontas have been delayed until next year, because Di$ney is reportedly working on a theatrical sequel to L&S.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

a theatrical sequel to L&S? Are you kidding me? Didn't they learn from the Jungle Book sequel that their sequels don't work in theatrical release?

Yeah, despite being in all the Best Buy sale ads. Bits reports that Suncoast stores won't be carrying them because of the recall and Best Buy even reports the same. Apparently, BB's sale ads are prepped a couple of weeks in advance. So the run of ads was ready before the recall was initiated. Some other smaller stores and chains may still carry it in the first few hours today. But they are likely to pull them later on.

You must be talking about the overpriced gift pack. I've got the original release, so I'll be skipping this one.

Hmmm... you never know. How about preachers and boners? Would seem timely enough to make that scene quite apparent, eh? Oops, sorry, that was The Little Mermaid.
