You can’t deny that some people do write in the absolute disgusting and pathetic way that I mocked earlier. If that is just change, then it’s regression. And I stand by my statement that comments such as this:

I think that you are being tolerant for the sake of tolerance. You are usually fairly articulate when you actually post a real comment that is more than a few words. I can’t believe that you actually think that the broken english seen on Twitter is just simple change.

I refuse to say the second, especially considering they are the same thing.

They aren’t really. An emoji is a pictogram of sorts, and an emoticon is made up of text. Much greater variety with emoji.

I think emoji are great at complimenting “traditional” written language. They’re really good at conveying emotion, which text isn’t great at.

I don’t think it’s destroying any language development, and if they were, then I find no reason to be mad at that fact.
