Help Wanted: Friday the 13th Part 1 - 9 Original Theatrical Mixes PCM Preservation

welp folks, it’s now official. warner/paramount decided to drop the original mixes (mono and dolby stereo) from the blu-ray releases of part 4 - 9. part 1 - 3 still had the original mono mixes in lossy dolby 2.0 on the u.s. blu-rays.
while i had synced the dvd audio to web-dl of part 4 - 8 for another forum, i’d like preserve the pcm audio from laserdisc. though, i only have part 9 on ld. therefore i was hoping others can jump in and provide the untouched ld audio for part 1 - 8 (pcm @44.1khz 16bit) so they can be synced to blu-rays.

please help me make this preservation possible 😃

cheers and thanks,
0pc

Due to the censorship would they even Sync?

afaik only part 1 was censored in the u.s. the short section can be fixed with the dvd/bd mono audio. though, i don't know if the laserdisc is censored or not. all other movies are uncut.

do you refer to the mpaa cuts to ensure the r-rating? if yes, then all movies are cut ;-) the nc-17 version, except for part 1, have never been released and it's doubtful they will ever see the day of light, as the scenes cut seams to be lost :(

So the LD of JGTH is the R rated print? if the first is the same there is an issue as the BD is unrated

Author

dvdmike, it's the other way around: ld is unrated, bd is r-rated. the r-rated version was confirmed on blu-ray.com forums :(

Either way it will not sync, and I read the opposite on there

facts for jason goes to hell blu-ray release

bd contains the r-rated version
uv code, included with the bd of the movie, is the unrated version

this was also confirmed on movie-censorship.com

does this mean part 9 pcm audio should be dropped? no! i have the itunes hd version and an old 1080i cap from monsters hd which looks pretty good. both are the unrated version. i also have the dvd.

i don't know how the uv version looks like or if there is any drm on it, since i never had a uv movie. one could also create a custom unrated version, using the available source for the best picture quality possible. it's clear now that warner wont release the unrated cut on bd. it just make me wonder why the uv version is the unrated cut.

btw, for those of you who wonder what uv stands for: uv = ultraviolet

The first one won't sync then like I thought

So is this preservation dead in the water for now?

for pcm yes: unless someone has the other movies on ld.
for lossy dolby no: still going. i have audio from the dvds. just need the blu-rays.

Well that's to bad about the pcm, would have been nice.

I have 1-3  and 7 & 8 so far, HD video not the mono audio.

Whats the bitrate for the lossy dvd audio like?

dvd dual mono ( part 4 - 7) / dolby surround (part 8)  @ 192kbits

part 1 - 3 had dolby dual mono @ 192kbits on the blu-ray.

Oh yeah that's right the blu-rays for 1-3 have them, i forgot.

Whats so hard about providing lossless mono audio for these movies, the studios need to stop dicking us around.

Actually, they're in 224 kbps. Still doesn't improve things very much... :(

It's beyond stupid how studios fail to take advantage of what Blu-Ray offers. PCM mono is easy as pie.

We really need all these soundtracks preserved somehow in lossless format. Burns me up that Paramount only gave us lossy mono tracks on the dvds and 1-3 bds.
