I didn’t mind the weaponization of lightspeed. I think the objects would have to have a logical size in order to be effective (X-Wing + Hyperdrive + Death Star wouldn’t work), and I don’t remember any other occasion where it would’ve been worth to lightspeed yourself into something. Both the Rebel Alliance and the Resistance were always short on resources which would make hyperdriving one ship into something way too costly, a too big of a sacrifice to be worth it.

Okay here’s something I am not sure has been asked before, but in TLJ does young Ben Solo use Anakin’s saber to block Luke? Is this ever mentioned elsewhere?

nah. for a moment i thought it’d make sense for it to be the same saber because of Rey’s experience touching Anakin’s lightsaber in Maz’s castle in TFA but taking a second look…

https://imgur.com/a/mc3Ul

looks like kylo’s saber but not black/red with the guards.

I’m pretty sure he uses Anakin’s saber. That’s why he says “it belongs to me” in TFA.

kylo may have felt entitled to it because of his family, but he did not use it to defend himself against luke in that tent.

Saw it in 70mm IMAX tonight. When I heard the San Jose theater had undergone renovations I feared it might have gone digital. The water damage on the massive domed screen is finally gone! Some scenes seemed much darker than when I saw it digitally last month. Very strange. And no, I don’t think the projector had a bad bulb. 😉

I had a good chuckle at a bit of fuzz on the film that looked like some strange creature on the ocean horizon in one scene. You don’t get that with digital!

Nice to see the gate weave in the closing credits.

It didn’t occur to me until the second viewing that Kylo taking out the hangar bay is very similar to Anakin destroying the Trade Federation ship in TPM.

Didn’t notice the first time that a child’s voice says Rey’s name in the Dark Side cave. No idea what it could mean.

Mark Hamill is listed as playing another character in the credits. Was it just a voice or did he play an alien or something?

Where were you in '77?

There’s artificial gate weave on the digital projection. Did you get double gate weave?

Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here; this is the war room!

I’ll admit I laughed when Kylo destroyed the hangar because when he spins the camera spins too and of course I couldn’t stop thinking about how that’s a good trick.

I wonder if any edition will use the more painted style artwork, I think it’s the Dolby Cinema one.

Anyway here’s a thing redacted by moderator

In for a hearty LOL before it’s removed by mods due to its source.

The prophecy is fulfilled.

I’m glad I saw it before that happened. 😮

I watched TLJ again tonight, and my wife and I had a funny moment during the film.

To give some backstory to this moment, my wife and I have watched the recent My Little Pony:FiM cartoons with our daughter several times. During one of the Halloween episodes, there is a character in the episode wearing a silly clown costume who attempts to talk to the little kids in a scary and spooky way, but another character turns and says “ugh. The rainbow wig just kills it for me.”

I had previously had a discussion with my wife about how I didn’t really like the Holdo character because her appearance made me think she would have looked more at home in The Hunger Games rather than in Star Wars. Well, during the film this time, after Holdo first appeared on screen, my wife turns to me and says “The purple hair just kills it for me.”

I laughed. I will always remember her saying that whenever I see Holdo in the film from now on.

It’s like it’s quite possible that Picasso would have loved to use Photoshop for some of his paintings if it was available back then, but if you take a picture from Picasso and recreate it in Photoshop, it’s not going to be the same picture and it can hardly be used to demonstrate Picasso’s brush techniques.
