Question on this dream sequence. Originally I left in the dialogue but it’s super quiet and very hard to hear, even with the music volume lowered. Does this work with it removed entirely?

Yeah, they all seem to work as is, although the purpose/funniness of the dream isn’t clear to me–probably because I’m seeing it in isolation.

All I know is I love the Groundhog Day-ness of the music as he wakes up, make sure that stays. (And I have no problem with how the dream sounds. Less you hear from Hayden, the better.)

I concur. Groundhog Day reference & no Hayden talk for the win!

Hahaha, very funny. It’s a great clip. I can’t wait to see the finished product.

I was wondering how you were going to convincingly connect the message with the Carpenter’s song before the scene where it gets shut off, but you pulled it off masterfully. Looking forward to seeing this thing in all its pristine and finished beauty.

Groovy! Rocking out to Edgar Winter’s Frankenstein.

Ok, I took a whack at fixing the whole scene. Here’s the original version I did:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCOsWi3-Eso

The Cars song was too loud, plus the original score is also there, so the whole thing is hard to follow. I lowered the song volume, as well as moving it where the chorus fills in a gap between dialogue, and also reduced the song volume further when there is dialogue versus where there is no volume. I then removed the R/L and SR/SL channels completely to remove the score, so it wouldn’t clash with the song. Unfortunately there is a lot of that score in the center channel as well, so I used the noise reduction trick on the center channel. It does result in the dialogue sounding a bit tinny but the score is barely noticeable so I think it’s worth it.

Let me know what you think, I think it’s much improved.

Definitely improved. What is that sound after Threepio says “I’ll pass”?

It’s a music sting from the original Arrested Development audio. I tried to cut it off but it’s concurrent with the end of “pass” so no luck there, and the noise reduction trick failed to remove it.

Ah, okay. It actually sounded like the “heartbeat” sound the sickbay scanner on Star Trek makes. 😉

The second video does sound better. However, C3PO’s dialogue sounds a little too loud when he’s talking with Padme.
