A custom made DVD was uploaded to alt.binaries.midnightmovies just over 3 months ago. While certainly preferable to any VHS version, it was no substitute for an official DVD release. The picture quality was quite soft, the letterboxed image was non-anamorphic, there was a big MGM logo in the corner for the entire duration and it was a PAL->NTSC conversion - though the picture looked a bit squashed so I don't think the guy knew exactly what he was doing.

That said, it was still very watchable.

Just read this on another forum:

Film Fest Channel (part of the Voom channels) on DIsh is showing Rolling Thunder in WideScreen HD this month..set your DVRS

I signed up on a 3day trial just to download the "PAL->NTSC conversion" and got it!
then quickly shut down the account so (Giganews with longest retention) didnt start charging for next month account.
had to learn me set up newsreader par sfv checker etc.
But then forgot to download the Rolling Thunder 1977.RTF (nfo) file.

And now its gonna air on HDTV! ahh but i dont live in America so i cant get the channels, I sat and was thinking of making a custom cover etc an offer to the ppl that didnt have usenet account an torrent.

Hehe but i donth think anyone is intrested in "old" version then if the hdtv version hits the net.
