NONE of the extras on the previous sets are included, aside from the commentaries.
Those OT scenes sound sweeet.

Look at the Prequel deleted scenes though; where are all the ones that appeared on the DVDs?
Padme's family is conspicuously absent...

Well maybe the "missing" deleted scenes will be re-incorporated into the movies ?

Do I spy more Mustafar duel scenes (or ONE such)? I wonder if this includes just more pyrotechnics or if perhaps there is some dialogue. I have long had an edit idea, and more back-and-forth between Anakin and Obi-Wan would help...
No "Lando brings Luke inside the Falcon" scene? Was this ever finished, anyway? I know parts were filmed.
No "Obi-Wan explains the 1981 version of the prequels to Luke on Dagobah" scene. I at first wondered if this had to do with trying to make the creative process of the films seem more straightforward than it actually was (the whole "it was planned from the beginning" thing). But then, the "Alternate Luke and Biggs Reunion" would seem to be the longer version of the scene partially restored in the SE, where Red Leader tells Luke that he met Skywalker's father, a heroic pilot, when RL was just a boy. In other words, that scene contains bits of an older backstory (this time, even older than Jedi's) as well. So I dunno.
Who is the "old woman on Tattooine" from ANH? Some of these scenes, I've not heard of/don't know what they're referring to...
The Qui-Gon scene in ROTS - very much appreciated. The Lost Twenty, Bail Organa in TPM, Maul vs. QG on the landing ramp, the raid on the control ship, the wampa, Yoda's test (could be the lightsaber/metal bar scene or the frying pan scene, if filmed)... all likewise.
The idea of getting "new" OT-era bits of film is exciting - it feels less like seeing random stuff left in a back room than finding actual artifacts from a galaxy far, far away.
I'm especially looking forward to seeing lost bits of the Battle of Endor.

Nope. We have running times for the films. None of them are extended.
Oh, I probably missed something (again :-) )

Stuff
Ha, I like how the cut Tattooine stuff is like American Graffiti in space.
Though the woman reminds me of the dream-guy living behind Winkie's in Mulholland Drive.
And I'm sure she's supposed to be the same old woman from TPM, anyway. ;)

Does anyone know if the deleted scenes from the prequel DVD sets were completed at a resolution less than 1080p? If so, that would explain their odd absence?
Out of curiosity, was the Alternate Biggs and Luke Reunion ever released before? I vividly recall watching it... and thinking it odd that the pilot talking to them remembered Luke's father as "one of the best star pilot's in the galaxy and if you're half of that, you'll be all right." Please don't tell me I'm suffering from grappling hook syndrome...

I have no idea, but my thought was that it's part of the grand scheme to not repeat content (other than the commentaries?).

Probably: Lucas's grand scheme of nonsense
Wait a second... I just realized that there seems to be no scene where Palpatine directly says that he created Anakin with midichlorians and is his father. Wasn't that a filmed scene?

I recall that in the theater too.

Problem is that I never saw it in the theater, only on home video. Was the Alternate Biggs and Luke Reunion on the '97 SE VHSes' special features?
EDIT: On a seperate note, about the grappling hook, I'm willing to believe that if anyone can give any evidence. Perhaps there were changes between the first few prints and the rest... (and by evidence: not Harmy's video).
They showed it on Entertainment Tonight once, I think.
To my knowledge it was never in a released version of the film, but it was definitely shown at least once in another media - I can't remember if it was an 'entertainment news' show or a documentary, or possibly both.

ET-canon.
Perhaps I saw it there and my memories just got all-a -jumbled. The version I remember was in the exact same camera angle as the SE, just not with that guy passing the camera.

Oh, man. I forgot about Rossiter's old cut scene site. I've decided to look at all of it instead of going to bed.
People recall the Biggs scene in the Yavin Hangar, because it's in the Marvel comic, and you can see it being filmed in "The Making Of Star Wars."

Where were you in '77?
I still don't buy that explanation. I never saw the comic or the "Making of SW".
I'm reluctantly willing to concede that I might not have seen Luke miss with the grappling hook. Perhaps my "memory" of having seen it is based on other similar scenes in other movies, where it is customary for the protagonist to miss the first time or two. But regardless of the lack of corroborating evidence, I am quite certain I saw the full Biggs reunion in the theater multiple times mid-1977. Unlike the hook, the Biggs scene isn't an incidental thing, but a lengthy scene with significant dialogue. I don't expect people to believe me, but I don't mind... I'm confident my memory will be vindicated someday!

Strange how I recall it so vividly as well. I hope my memory isn't playing tricks on me, which it has and that time it was also a vivid memory. :-(
I saw it sometime between 2002 and 2005, thinking that "Luke's father" was the AOTC version of Anakin. I remember being quite fascinated about it for some time. It was actually what really inspired me to think about how Episode IV really came first and the film makers didn't really know how they would eventually portray Luke's father in the prequels. I started wondering about production history... then being intrigued by an unaltered VHS... then wanted to learn more about getting unaltered versions.. I suppose it inadvertently led to a chain of events which led me to this site...... jeez and I can't even find it.
It's ironic how a lie your memory plays on you can lead to so much...
I remember seeing it on a TV in widescreen, the exact same angle as in the Special Edition. I distinctly remember the Pilot's line "I knew you're father. He was the best starpilot in the galaxy," then he later said, "If you're half as good as he is, you'll be all right."
If anyone's curious, at my disposal, I had the Faces Laserdiscs, the Widescreen Special Edition VHSes, the 1990 Trilogy Box Set, the mid-1980's CBS/Fox issues, From Star Wars to Jedi, and the 2004 set.

And you're sure you never heard the radio series either?
If THX-1138 had a larger fan base, there would have been plenty of debate over people remembering that lost scene I found. So your memories could very well be correct.

The Biggs scene wasn't in Star Wars Begins and Jambe had some pretty good material available. So I'd say it's not been released anywhere.
And in the time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as the Son of the Suns.
This conversation is also in the novelization - it might be that, having seen the SE version of the film and read the novel, they blend in the mind's eye and ear?
