Info: TPM Deleted Scene that might be more than a photo...

The one where Obi Wan is given his lightsaber back from Qui Gon; it happens just when they arrive on Naboo.

I know that the scene was shot but I might have built it up in my mind that the scene was ever released.

Any thoughts? It would tie in nicely when Anakin loses his lightsaber in AOTC.

It links to another deleted scene.

As you will remember from the final film, the two Jedi split up and hide in separate ships (which is a daft idea when you think of it, they could have ended up on opposite ends of the planet but I digress).

Obi-Wan ends submerged under water and doing an homage to a scene from Apocalypse Now.

If I remember correctly the water screws up Kenobi's lightsaber so Qui-Gon has to take out the droid instead.

Qui-Gon gives his pupil a bit of a ticking off about getting his weapon moist.

The BBC did a special (it might have been an Horizon or an Arena special) to tie in with the release of TPM and you see the scene being shot.

Yeah man, I definitely remember that scene with Ewan in the water, making some joke about this being his Martin Sheen moment (though I think he says Charlie).

Was the following scene only ever shown as on set action?

I don't think so.  The business with the Master telling his apprentice off for not taking care of his sword is something they revisit in AOTC a bit and I remember this iteration being talked about even before the DVD set came out with the limited suite of deleted material it had.

It's one of those things we hear about, see stills from but never see (like the deleted scene with Burke in the cocoon in Aliens).

The blu-rays do even more of an injustice to the PTs than they do to the OT in that regard.
