Classic Games

River City Ransom will forever be my favorite classic.

But lately I've been working through the Sonic series and Zelda 2. I've amassed quite a classics collection in my older age (being mid-20s).

Has anyone played Super Dodgeball on the NES? That game completely escaped me back in the day, but it is awesome!

Yeah, that game was great. My brother has it on his GBA. Fun stuff.

When I move into my new townhouse next week, I think I'm going to make it a point to permanently connect my Atari 2600 to my TV so I don't have to constantly dis/reconnect it each time I want to use it. Now we're talking classic games.

I got one of those Plug-and-Play things with 10 Activision games on it and I've been playing that for a little bit(Pitfall)

I've also tried to get back into LttP this week, but with what little time I have I've only beat the first dungeon and gotten a few trinkets.

Link to the Past, not really a "classic" per se.

My family still has an Atari 800 hooked up to a TV in our basement. We've got tons of classic games. Joust, Pole Position, Ms. Pacman, Capture the Flag, Star Raiders, Super Breakout, Mario Bros, Moon Patrol, Vanguard, etc.

Believe it or not, I'm still trying to beat Zelda 2. I haven't picked it up for a while...having trouble making it all the way to the hammer.
There are 3 Zelda games for a Nintendo system I haven't beaten. Zelda 2, Zelda: The Wind Waker, Zelda: The Four Sword
Of those, Zelda 2 is the only one I own.

I got my copy of Zelda and Zelda 2 on the Collectors Disc for the GCN.

Isn't that the combined pack of FF1 and FF2?

Did they update the graphics any?

I'm not sure. I think they did.

I doubt the game would have any credibiltiy in its original format.

The original Intellevision games... talk about classic... Big fan of the "Blue Sky Rangers", they were the ones who made me want to get on the computer business (they were Mattel's softwarehouse who did most of the Intellevision games).
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

I saw something @ EB Games today: it's an Atari console preloaded with ~20 games, and it comes with Atari 7800 style joysticks. Goes for ~$50 Cdn.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

I think we're talking about the same thing, except mine was the single player one for the Activision.

Yeah, I've seen the Activision, Intellivision, Genesis and Atari 2600 "consoles in a joystick", but this thing is an actual console and comes with a handful of 5200 and 7800 games in the mix. Plus, it has 2 controllers.

Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Oh, I know what you're talking about.

Its still the same company that makes the consoles in a joystick I think.

Speaking of classic games, did anyone get any of those collections for the PS2 like Intellivision lives!?

I decided to stop living in the past I overlooked (or wasn't alive for) and look ahead. Two Zeldas next year. YAY!

I've seen tons of those compilation joystick things.

In addition to the Atari 800, I've also got Namco Museum 64 for N64, and the Atari collection for PC (80 Classic Games in One). That is a great set.

If any of you have run into an xbox with the emulators loaded onto it, I'm sure you'll agree it is the ultimate classics machine. I've been to a party or two including one of those things and no matter what else is going on, everyone seems to gravitate around the memories. And you can have EVERYTHING on there.

Someone walks in - "hey, do you have Rush N' Attack?" someone says - "hmm...let me check, oh, right, we have everything. Yeah."

Whether it's the memories, or the quality, or the community, classic games spread the joy like no other.

Absolutely. Anytime I find a new one, I buy it because my wife and I both love those. Aside from Pac Man World and Crazy Taxi, the throwback games are the only ones my wife likes to play.

Be careful, though, there is a new Midway Classics, vol. 1 that came out. It's the exact same game as one released a couple years back but in totally different packaging. I made that mistake. Now I've got to return it. Didn't realize it upon purchasing it.
