I though it was "Garth Vader" for a while back in '77. I have no idea why. ;)
When I first saw the DSII on the cover of Starlog before Jedi came out, I was convinced it was the remains of the original Death Star being rebuilt.
I also thought Boussh was a new bounty hunter or mercanary hired to help rescue Han. Boussh would be revealed as a woman, who falls for Han, and cause more complications for the now infamous love triangle. Amazing that the truth didn't leak out before opening day!

On reading the back of the TPM score CD I was convinced that they wouldn't leak such a major spoiler before the film release and thought that Qui-Gon had a very well turned out derrière going by Track 15 (lie).

I always had this misconception after watching Return of the Jedi in 1983 that Luke and Leia's mom died while Leia was very young, and then once I saw Episode III, she died at childbirth.

in Star Wars, Vader's line "they'll be no one to stop us this time" for some reason my young ears always heard it as "they'll be no understuffus this time" and it wasn't until I was in my twenties that I finally understood it as it was meant to be heard!
I didn't understand the evolution of the spaceships through the series - why didn't they have TIE interceptors in the first film?!
