Brosnan is no longer Bond, Daniel Craig is now Bond.

Brosnan out as Bond.

It would seem that Brosnan is longer going to be playing Bond. Thoughts?, comments?, Who do you think should get the role? Who do you think will get the role? Is this good or bad for the Bond movies?

I belive we were talking about it in another thread... I'm not sure who should take it, hopefully some unknown british actor with age between 30 and 40. Wow, Brosnan is 52?

I thought this was confirmed a while back? It'll be sad to see him go, he was a great Bond stuck in crappy movies(though I kinda liked Goldeneye).

I sure won't lose any sleep over it. I always hated Brosnan as Bond, because every time I saw him I thought of him as that blubbering vagina from "Mrs. Doubtfire".

Meh, I always thought of him as Remington Steele.

When we talked before, it was rumered that he would be replaced, now it has been confirmed.

my favorite of the Brosan era was: "Tomorrow never dies".

I agree. But, I think he was getting a little too old for the part.

HE WOULD HAVE BEEN GOOD IN THE TIMOTHY DALTON BOND MOVIES, BUT THE ONES THAT HE GOT WERE SHITE. I'M NOT REALLY SAD TO SEE HIM GO. I AGREE THAT THEY SHOULD CAST AN UNKNOWN ACTOR IN THE PART. HOWEVER, DOES ANYBODY REALLY CARE IF THERE IS ANOTHER BOND MOVIE ???

I kinda feel sorry for Brosnan. The 007 folks wanted him back in the 80s, but he couldn't get out of his "Remington Steele" contract, and by the time he came aboard the series was pointed in its current direction. I still think his first two Bond movies were very good, but after that it got to the point that I enjoyed David Arnold's music as much as anything else. When you can say that with fine-looking women and Aston Martins on the screen, something's lacking elsewhere.

Whoever falls into the role next, unless the producers give up their insistence on sticking to the same staid formula it's just gonna be an exercise in seducing the ladies and making shit blow up real good. If they remember that Bond James Bond is a spy, then they can make an intelligent, exciting story in which there are also babes and explosions to break things up a bit.

Not unless they give the series a complete overhaul. And I'm not talking about a hollywood style overhaul with more explosions, extreme sports and a rap soundtrack, I'm talking about a proper James Bond as it should be overhaul. My favourite Bond is Dalton. I like the more serious movies with less gadgets. I like some gadgets, but not too many - invisible cars?? Sheesh.

I like Brosnan and I think it will be good for him to do some different roles - has anyone seen Laws of attraction? So differnt to bond but I thought he was good in it - did you know that he was under contract to not wear a tux in any other movie while he was bond? Now he's free to branch out.

I agree - the Brosnan Bond films just sort of coasted on Brosnan's ability to do the Bond traits. The best of his run was probably "Goldeneye".

I hear they want to cast someone young so as to attract younger audiences, probably a feeling of competition with films featuring young protagonists like Spider-Man. I hear that Ioan Gruffud (Black Hawk Down, King Arthur, Fantastic Four and Horatio Hornblower) is a contender along with Gerard Butler, Eric Bana and, the guy they've been carting for years, Clive Owen.

Hugh Jackman recently counted himself out of the 007 bid, or so I've heard.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

I'm going to miss Brosnan. I think two of his Bond movies, Goldeneye and Die Another Day, were very good. Tommorrow Never Dies had problems, but it was O.K. It at least had Michelle Yeoh. The World is Not Enough might be the worst film of the franchise(it's between that and View to a Kill) and I almost didn't go see Die Another Day because of it.
I think Clive Owen would make a great Bond. Bana wouldn't be too bad either. I haven't seen Gruffand or Butler in anything where they have required a personality. The one rumor that I am dreading is they were talking about Orlando Bloom. If they choose him, I will refuse to see the movie.

Bloom better be some fangirl fantasy and nothing else. I couldn't take him as Bond. I can't take him in anything he does. And the more I see him in, the less I like his past roles. Sad, since he's such a dominant character in the LOTR films.

Brosnan never did it for me as Bond. Not Brosnan himself, per se. Back in the 80s when he was being courted, I loved the idea. Even when he was cast in the 90s I thought he would be great. But the movies he was in all sucked.

I know I'm gonna be flamed for this, but Dalton was so much better. License to Kill is great!

I'm hoping that's a "hear hear" on License to Kill being great and not with regard to me being flamed.

I hope they get Clive Owen for the part. He could be the first Bond since Connery that could make you think he's completely lethal.

I hate License to Kill. Bond movies are supposed to be spy movies. To me that movie belongs more with the Dirty Harry movies than with the Bond movies. Was it really necessary to Felix Lighter's legs chewd up by a shark? Too dark for a Bond movie. I may be alone in this, but I perfer the lighter bond movies of the Moore era. (flame me if you must)

I do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am a big time Bond fan. I don't want the series to die.

my pick for the next Bond (out of the guys meantioned): Ioan Gruffud. Others may disagree, but I think he can play the part.

Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing Gerard Butler filling in Bond's shoes. He could have the same Connery accent, and could add some new flare to the series.

i heard he was leaving, and i actually heard that hugh jackman from the Xmen series is taking over. he was a good english man in Kate& Leopold so i think he could pull off a Bond, but in Xmen he's just all rugged and sexy and hmmm... unshaven. but i think the aussie has a chance at being a good Bond
