Info Wanted: a 'Battlestar Galactica 1980' preservation?

I have heard that the 1980 series sucked big time, but wanted to see if anyone has this preserved, as a studio release doesn’t look likely.

"The Return of Starbuck" episode is about the only one most old school fans accept the existence of. If Universal could release the agonizing second season of Buck Rogers, then anything is possible.
The movie version of G'80 inflicted on the rest of the world, "Conquest of the Earth" is on my to-do list. The LD has Japanese subtitles though...

Where were you in '77?

There are those who believe that life here, began out there, far across the universe with tribes of humans who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians or the Toltecs or the Mayans. Some believe that even now there are brothers of man who even now fight to survive somewhere among the heavens.

And for the record, I thought the series was pretty cool.

Ah, but you're thinking of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, from 1978. The series in question here is its "sequel" series, GALACTICA 1980. At least, I think that's what you were confusing it with; I could be wrong.

I have a handful of these on VHS recorded from TV somewhere. When RareTV was still in business I was ready to put down some cash for a copy (I know, I know), but they were shut down before I had a chance.

Might have to add this to my list of possible jobs to do at some point...

Ah, well there ya go. Thanks Ash. I remember being rather underwhelmed with the sequel series.

I found a copy on ebay for $25 shipped for all 7 episodes. I'm tempted but will try and offer the guy a trade first to see if he bites.

I recorded the last four episodes a couple of weeks ago when they aired on the Sci Fi Channel. The video quality is okay, considering the source is analog cable saved to TiVo and then transferred to DVD. Unfortunately, the Sci Fi Channel has a nasty habit of trimming episodes to fit in more commercials. Does anyone have uncut episodes?

I have this series on 4 DVD-R discs if anyone is interested. The quality is very good, about an 8.5, and they were taken from the Sci-Fi channel, so I don't know if they're edited or not.

I have the complete unedited serie in perfect quality on a 4DVD set, but it has burned in dutch subtitle's.... (as it was broadcasted through one of our national tv channels)

As a Galactica completist, I'm really looking forward this project and I read nothing about official dvds coming.
