It’s a HECK of a lot of work. A heck of a lot. Have you seen all that dirt?!
I am still holding out for a blu ray release one day but as things stand at the moment I imagine having only the DVDs to work with is going to put off any serious restorationalists.
Heck of a lot of work.
The dirt lends it character.
There’s no issues of note. TRhe dvds are still leagues ahead of broadcast versions and aside from cel dirt there’s nothing wrong. Plus hey even have the original Dolby matrix encoding in the audio.

I just think that a restoration would be nice. Not needed, just nice to have.
I would love to see a complete series BD release. But as others have said, sounds like it’ll be one giant undertaking. I was very pleased with the recent Warner Archive release of Mask of the Phantasm. Here’s hoping it sells well and can potentionally generate more interest in TAS getting a full restoration.

As do I.
Even if they just rescanned it at 1440x1080 and put it out warty, it would suffice me.

It would take a lot of work they’re probably not willing to go through right now. The editing, as with most of the early dcau, was done on video. It’s stuck in 480 unless they go the TNG route and redo a lot of stuff, though probably not as extensive of a change as in that case.
I’d love to see it but don’t see it happening any time soon. Maybe someone could do an upscale Avatar-style, but I’m perfectly content with the DVDs for now. They even downscale decently on Amazon streaming.
A Goon in a Gaggle of 'em
Well, it’s happening! Announced today at NYCC, blu-rays to come next year. 😃

I’m sooo getting it.
Just watched a recap review of the panel and came here to hype about the remastered edition! Great things come to those who wait. 😛

Me too!
I was over the moon when we got Mask of the Phantasm in the summer but now this? Unbelievably good news but can I be really greedy and hope for some new commentaries and documentaries as well?!

We can only hope.
As long as it’s not just like what Toei would do (half-assed Q-TEC upscale of the DVD masters) I’ll prolly be fine with it.
