John Woo's Bullet in The Head - my edit (Released)

Author
Time
 (Edited)

I’m going to take on trying to locate and cobble together the most complete version of John Woo’s BULLET IN THE HEAD that I can muster.

I will be using the original “boardroom ending” and including the “car joust” ending as an alternate scene. I found the original ending to be much more effective.

I’ve been putting together a list of what the differences are here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullet_in_the_head

Why not just buy the Spectrum Region 3 NTSC Korean release? It's actually the most complete version to date and there's no need going about this project. What a waste of time since the Spectrum has DTS, extras (interviews), trailers and alot of other associated things.

Here's the front and back covers:

Seriously, there's practically nothing to add to this unless if you really wanted to waste your time for this project and just find and buy the above. It'd save you loads of time and effort. Or you could just combine everything and make a multi-disc set for it using the far better transfer on the Spectrum (it's the same as the Region 0 Hong Kong IVL/Fortune Star release just Region 3 encoded). Might as well have one of the discs as the complete soundtrack.

I own that version. It's not complete that I could see. No piss scene. To me, that's one of the most crucial scenes of the film.

Finally have all of my elements together. Any recommendations on what software to use on this? I was going to try Vegas 6.

I have the OOP Laser discs extras from I believe Criterion.....

I would be more than happy to copy them to disc for your oject..

However, it will be a simple disc as I do not author discs..only the movie

Remember, Highlander, you’ve both still got your full measure of life. Use it well, and your future will be glorious.

Can you check who put out the LD? I have two LDs of this movie -- both ended up being the same (damn unclear Ebay sellers). The LD is missing those same key scenes. The Japanese DVD seems to have quite a few of the missing pieces and the Boot VHS is the most complete print I've been able to find.

I really appreciate the offer. Thanks for not being a negative nelly like DarkGryphon2048

Did my first dump of this to DVDr last night. It's looking good but I'd like to make a more robust menu set-up. Is there a good tutorial on DVD Lab Pro around? Or is there something else that folks can recommend?

I'm REALLY interested. Any chance of a torrent or newsgroup post?

Kudos on your work, Mike! I'm not a huge Woo fan myself, but after taking a look at that page, I think I may want to check this out at some point. I always enjoy seeing fan-made labors of love like this.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Wow, due to the lack of response, I didn't think anyone was interested in this.

Yeah, I'll do a demonic post of this.

Sorry, I don't have HD space enough to keep this one seeding properly. Already seeding a few other goodies that I'm going to have to delete off soon.

The edit is flawless, but should probably improve the encoding (or was it the dvd itself so full of digital artifacts?).
A dvd would be REALLY nice, being the project so important.

I've had the longest version there is in my collection for years and it includes the piss drinking scene. It's on VHS recorded from a BetaSP master.

Ooh great, more BiTH fans...

I'm defo going to look for this as I'd been contemplating making such a disc myself. I wonder if your VHS dupe is better than mine... (which I think I got off of Matt years back!)

(I actually just signed up on these forums to say that... I just LOOVE this film...)

And as an additional note; I believe the original board room ending is on the HongKong VCD with Cantonese mono sound... it surprised me that HongKongLegends failed to include this on their alternate ending on the R2 PAL dvd.

Oh my!!!

According to Muldoon over at AsianDVDGuide JoySales will release the longer festival print (in a manner of speaking) on DVD. This will include the piss drinking scene

Finally!

They will? Sweet! Any news on what's gonna be on the DVD?

EDIT: Well I read the thread and it's pretty cool that we're gonna finally get the original version. It's a real shame that this guy put so much hard work and research into this.

put together what you do have and release a preservation set

who knows when the set will really release, and if those features will actually exist.

speaking as someone who was the edited DVD of this, i would surely appreciate watching it in it's full glory
