SPAWN TANKED AT THE BOX OFFICE. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO SEE THIS FILM DO WELL, BUT LET'S FACE IT THIS MOVIE IS GOING TO BOMB. IT'S A SHAME REALLY THOUGH. IT COULD DO AS WELL AS LXG WHICH ISN'T SAYING MUCH. THIS MOVIE WILL BE ON DVD WITHIN SIX MONTHS OF ITS THEATRICAL RELEASE. HOME VIDEO/DVD IS WHERE IT WILL MAKE ITS MONEY MUCH LIKE LXG DID.

it will bomb, but I think it looks good and I hear that it is. I love the comic and this looks as almost good as I could of hoped. They have the right cast, right director, good SFX from the looks of it, and the script is suppose to be strong, but I doubt it will do well.

yeah I'll be checking Hellboy out when (if) it reaches the UK! I'm a huge fan of Michael Mignola's work, he's got one of the koolest comic book styles out there!

The trailer for Hellboy is great!

speaking of Mr.Miller, did you guys hear about the sin city movie?

Aparently nobody could get the rights away from Miller who wants nothing to do with Hollywood following his involvement with Robocop 2 & 3. But Robert Rodriguez wrote a script for SC the movie that baiscally interweves the original miniseries, dame to kill for, and that yellow bastard into one movie. Then he cast Josh Hartnett (I think as Dwight) and some famous actress and went out and shot the first 10 min of the movie, still without having acquired the rights and done entirely in secret. Aparently he't been working for years to develop this movie, and has come up with some camera/digital technique to make the movie look exactly like the comic.

So now he has the first ten minutes, and he gets ahold of Miller and invites him over to his house, and says "look, I'll show you what I have, and if you like it we'll do the whole movie, and if you don't I'll burn it and never tell a soul that we did this"

Miller liked what he saw and now the movie is a go ahead. RR has a dream cast of huge name stars (which have not been revealed as of yet) whom he is going to approach using the first 10 minutes as a sample of what is to come in hopes of wooing them into the project.

It sounds like if this works out, the film could be great, but there is still a lot of ways this can go wrong. After all more then a couple of RR's movies are complete crap.

Still I'm excited/

I just love how non-Hollywood Rodriguez is. He is willing to take so many risks and try things that other directors/writers/producers would be scared as hell to try. He comes up with all-new approaches to moviemaking. The man's got balls. Why can't more people be like that?

Go rent the SK3D DVD and listen to his comments on how financial frugality forces the filmmaker to become more creative. It's in the 10 Minute Film School segment, and I think GL should listen.

A local video store has a "used" copy of SK3D for sale and I thought about picking it up. They also had SK2 "used". I use quotes because they are still in factory wrap meaning they were probably stolen from a store and resold to this resale shop. I would just need to get SK1 which I thought was a cool as hell flick. What do you guys think? Wise investment?

Go for it, but wait on SK1. Rodriguez has hinted that an SE is in the works, including the scene in the shark cave that was reinstated when SK1 was rereleased in the summer of 2001.
