Another kind of preservation: LucasArts Posters

Some of you might have already spotted my efforts on some other forums, and now I'm gonna post this here as well.

I've always been a fan of both painted artworks/posters and the classic LucasArts adventure games, and so I'm trying to preserve those classic artworks by Steve Purcell, Bill Eaken and the likes, cleaning them up, painting out overlaying text or stickers, plus taking the extra step to make these babies printable in poster size (or make them work as posters AT ALL).

Most of them are already hosted, thanks to the German Adventure-Treff.de, but my lates ones are still residing on Rapidshare, so bear with me on those until they get onto AT as well.

So, without further babbling, here's the posters:

Laserschwert, I always love your work for the old LucasArts games (reminds me... that higher quality music pack for KOTOR I / II whichever one it was... need to get that link from you again). Anyway, great work here. I've nabbed em all and I'm sure some/all of them will be printed out and hung up. If only I knew where to get copyrighted material printed on nice huge card here in Australia.

By the way, would you consider doing this for The Neverhood? I know it ain't LucasArts but Dreamworks Interactive was pretty cool once upon a time. Plus, I'd be able to use it for my custom Neverhood DVD - which I've gotten back into now that they've announced a feature film is going to be made!

A Neverhood-movie? Really? I remember playing the demo of the game back then... though I don't remember it very much... but it's been a while since I've seen claymation on the screen... and that wasn't even the "big" screen.

But for now I'm gonna stay with LucasArts-stuff... there's still some games left. First of all "Maniac Mansion", "Loom" and "Full Throttle" will get a treatment.

Fair enough about staying with the LucasArts games. I'm looking forward to the Full Throttle one. However, my favorite so far is the Star Wars style DOTT poster which I'd never seen before.

On the Neverhood movie; Frederator (involved with Robot Chicken somehow) have started a films division and Neverhood is its first project. Doug TenNapel's going to direct (and maybe write as well - can't remember). Still, if you've only played the demo you should track down a copy of the game as its brilliant.

That one was the cover for one of LucasArts' newsletter "The Adventurer", which came with the games back in the 90s:

As you can see there was a LOT to clean up (the creases being the biggest problems), and since it was printed on recycled paper, the colors DID look that washed out.

Will you be doing some of the really early Lucasfilm games, like Ballblazer and Rescue on Fractalus?

Where were you in '77?

Wow, thanks a lot. I hadn't seen most of these before. I feel like Playing DotT again now.

I'd like to reiterate my thanks, seeing now just how much restoration went into them. Brings back feelings of receiving and playing all the games from the two LucasArts Archives boxes.

As for feeling like playing DotT... well let's just say ScummVM has let me relive all my favorite LucasArts adventures on my DS lite for the past few months.

I'm planning on putting together a website for them, including before/after comparisons to show what I did to clean them up... I'm just a little worried about copyright issues there.

Wow, thank you for this. I'm going to download them all and print a few of them in full poster size. This brings back some good memories! I love Monkey Island, DotT and Sam & Max.
Fez: I am so excited about Star Whores.
Hyde: Fezzy, man, it's Star Wars.

Hi Laserschwert,
My appologies for digging up this topic from the grave, but I’m newly inscribed and I see no way to directly contact a member.
I have been looking for the high rez versions of “good old times” lucas arts… and unfortunately all the links (here and elsewhere, since lucasforum is down :___( ) seem to be dead.
Just got a dark 15m scan of monkey island ; it seems your versions were better.
Would you, by any chance, post them again please ?
I’m really looking forward having a “monkey island (1)” poster to enjoy entering my “gameroon”.
Thanks a lot.
