I think what he was saying is "One Mark and Two Tens" which is referring to the types of TIEs in pursuit. One Mark being the TIE that Vader was flying and the Two Tens being the standard TIEs.

As for the answer to the trivia question... I have no clue.

I meant the exact line that Gold Leader said. Let me give you quotes of everything preceding it and see if you remember it. Don't have names for all the pilots, but you should probably remember it. This is the first trench run attempt on the Death Star.


"Switch all power to front deflector screens. Switch all power to front deflector screens."
"How many guns do you think Gold Five?"
"Say about 20 guns, some on the surface, some on the towers."

"Death Star will be in range in 5 minutes."

"Switch to targeting computer."
"Computer's locked, getting a signal.....The guns, they've stopped."
"Stablize your rear deflectors, watch for enemy fighters."
"They're coming in ____ ____ at __ ___."


Now what is the phrase? I'll post the answer in a day or two if no one gets it.

Sticking to the topic of the trench battle from ANH, what are the names for the following call numbers:
a) Red 2
b) Red 3
c) Red 5
d) Red 6

(by the way, those are the only named X-wing pilots from that battle)

Bonus Points: What are the call numbers and names of the 2 Y-wing pilots that die before Gold 5?

How many ships, or how many pilots do we see?!??

If it's ships isn't it 15?? or is it 30??

I can think of Seven that are officially referred to. I'm sure that number would be expanded in the SE with all the additional fighters, but you don't hear them call any more numbers over the com system.

I'll say four of 'em. I'm thinking Red 2, 5, 7, and 11 (now that I've thought it through some more, I do remember a Red 11 signing in. At least I'm pretty sure I do).

There are 9 Reds.
In order of checking in:
Red Leader ("all wings, report in"), Red 10, Red 7, Red 3 (Biggs), Red 6 (Porkins), Red 9, Red 2 (Wedge), Red 11, Red 5 (Luke)

After Luke checks in, Red Leader tells them to "lock S-foils in attack position"

So, there is no Red 4 or Red 8.
