Alien vs Predator 2!?

Oh NO! Say it isn't so... I was pretty excited back in 2003 when I heard there would be an AVP movie... up until the release of that lousy thing. Come on everybody... it was a very poor execution for an AVP film. And now... now we get AVP2! And if that isn't worse... the plot IS! Holy crap, have they lost their minds?
This really degrades both film creations into B-movie territory... this film really sounds like a direct-to-video.

While I wouldn't mind seeing a GOOD AVP movie... this makes me cringe... and cringe bad.

Just read it... read it! Right here! Oh no...

Anyone have any say on this?

Dallas was played by Tom Skerret in the original.

yeah but I'm 100% sure it's just one of those homages to the original ALIEN. No real relation.

The one ray of light for this is that Paul W.S. Anderson has nothing to do with it this time around, and is instead being made by the visual FX guys behind 300 (so it could look really nice at least). I do hope we're surprised with this one though.

What's totally putting the pepper in my italian sausage is that they're releasing it on Christmas Day. This is the second worst idea for a Christmas release (the worst being Black Christmas of course).

I've only seen a few minutes of the first one. I'd like to see it, but have heard some good, some bad on it.

If you can put aside the kind of hype that the idea of Aliens vs Predator had built up over the years, and some closely-held feelings on the near-perfectness of the first two Alien flicks, AVP was a fuckin' good time. Was it trash cinema? Yeah, but it was a nice ride. Take it for what it is: a way-too-expensive weekend fun flick.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

I could have stomached it were it not for it's disrespect for continuity. Apparently you can go from egg to face hugger to chest burster to adult in minutes in the Paul WS Anderson world. And there were no compelling characters. No Ripley. No Dallas. No Hicks. No Bishop. No Charles S. Dutton bible-verse spewing religious nut. The characters are what made the Alien flicks so engrossing. The suspense was simply the glue that bound it together.

Well, I can honestly say I thought that the second movie in the Aliens franchise was fantastic. I thought the first is good, not as good as the second. The rest are absolute tripe.

Predator - I love both movies. Fantastic in their own ways.

I'll have to check it out sometime.

Love Aliens 1 & 2, and first Predator. The rest suck.

Alien & Aliens are they only ones I consider as canon in my mind. While I loved Dutton's character in Alien-cubed, and thought the notion of Ripley carrying a queen was brilliant, the ham-fisted disposal of the survivors of Aliens was the ultimate slap in the franchise's face. All that deep character development surrounding Ripley's attachment to Newt was pissed away in the opening credits. The fact that Sigourney went cueball was just the dingleberry on top of a shit sundae.

In my rose-colored world, Ridley Scott and James Cameron will team for "Aliens Return" wherein the third and fourth films will be written off as a bad hyper-sleep dream.

Having not read the comics, my expectation was to see cheesy acting and Aliens fighting Predators, which was met.

I mean, Casablanca it ain't but I still liked it...

The only drugs she takes are the medications the doctor administrates to her to help her get over her "illness" She doesn't become a druggie.

I HAD A SNEAKING SUSPICION THAT YOU WERE ACTUALLY TALKING ABOUT THE THIRD MOVIE INSTEAD OF A MOVIE ABOUT TURDS BUT I APPRECIATE YOU EXPLAINING WHAT YOU MEANT.

Alien & Aliens are both the killer!

Alien³ and Resurrection... I deem pretty bad. But I like it in it's own stupid way... the cinematography and all.

Predator was great... Predator 2 was bad and I didn't even buy it. Blah!

I'm replying to my own thread... ahh who cares.

alien vs predator would have been great if they just stuck to the dark horse comic.

it's a damn shame.

i wish the deadliest of the species was made into a movie that comic rocked.

avp in the dark horse book or the movies as we have it was never intended to be a part of the alien canon right?

it was just official fan fiction existing in an alterate universe kind of like infinities.

I heard a number of years ago the superman one was going to be made into a movie never happened.

speaking of the first flesh gordon i was reading through my old return of the jedi cinematographer that dennis muren worked on the first one.

“Always loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin’s ghost. What a fucking shame.” -Simon Pegg.
