Info: Alien DC Project ... an UPDATE. (Released)

 (Edited)

I have a copy of the DTheater version which retains the color timing the movie had before the Bluray change.  I also have the cinema and DTheater DTS.  What it doesn’t have is a proper menu or artwork to make a finished project.

DoomBot was crucial in getting the cinema DTS synched as there is a DTheater bumper before the movie.  It is his project as much as it is mine.

Is there ANY one interested in doing a menu and artwork for this?

Something with the look of the "Mother" interface would be cool.

Are you preserving the DTheater bumper? I've never seen one.

Where were you in '77?

There's a DTheater/DVHS rip of "True Lies" floating around that has the bumpter.

Id really like to see the DTheater version of Alien.  Best of luck getting this done.

The DTheater bumper on this one is very short.  I know there is a DTheater demo one can find on youtube though.

As for the Mother Interface for a menu, yeah, that would be awesome.

I wonder how you manage it to get your hands on all those rare gizmos all the time, Jetrell Fo.

Unfortunately, if I'm not mistaken, you're not the one who is particular keen on sharing the stuff, are you?

How does the DTS track which comes with the D-VHS-Cassette differ from the Cinema-DTS-CDs (except for the apparent technical differences of course like no LFE, LFE-content hidden in the rear channels, etc.)?

Getting ones hands on a copy of this rip was easy if you know how to torrent so I'm not sure what I've done is rare.  As for sharing, I am attempting to do just that with this project but I don't indulge in pissing contests if that's what you're referring to.

As for the difference in sound, it may be just the way it's eq'd.

Glad to see it might finally get shared.

So is anyone helping out on the menu yet Shawn?

No.  I do have someone working on some artwork though.

I am thinking about trying to include this as an extra.  Any thoughts?

Can you even fit it on a BD25 since the file is already 22.2GB and with a menu? I suppose you could just strip out the ac3 file.

Well, it's either that or we go for an MKV file to handle the larger size.  If I had enough extras we could just do a BD50.

I do happen to have the Alien Saga DVD that can be difficult to get but it covers all 4 movies.

Yea 22.2GB leaves you zero over head for a menu let alone any extras.

Has the soundtrack from this LD release ever been captured?

http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/06718/8760-85/Alien-%281979%29

I believe Jonno did this one as I believe it's source is the 70mm.  Funny, I just watched my copy of this today on the 55inch.  Jonno did a 70mm recreation and a DD from the soundtrack.  I have both put since it isn't the DC it may not synch.

We do have a special surprise coming for this release but I won't say anything about it until I get it myself.

IIRC I did it... but my memory doesn't serve me so well lately, so maybe I'm wrong... or not?!? (^^,)

Have I still not shared that with you? I am a terrible friend. I will remedy this grievous oversight without (much) delay!

Anyway, while I did some syncs of the PCM tracks a while back (originally using msycamore's rip, then my own) Andrea was the hero who stepped up to capture the 5.1 AC-3 from that disc.

And no, it won't sync at all well to the DC - too many variations. But since we'll have the theatrical DTS mix for it, who needs a rough old 1979 effort? ;-)

Can anybody point me to any screencaps taken from the dtheater release?

I'm very interested in seeing how the colours look on this dtheater release and how they compare to the blu-ray.

where is the cinema DTS taken from? Is its quality ~the same compared to the inbuilt DTS track? (aside from the bumper)
