A 2 disc DVD for each movie

Author

Considering how much data a dual layer DVD holds, it's silly not to expect Lucasfilm to release a 2 disc DVD for each movie. 1 disc could hold the special edition version with a commentary track or a few short documentaries. The second disc could have the original theatrical release version as well as other added goodies like original trailers, interviews or things like that. Heck, I would even buy a huge compendium disc like "From Star Wars to Jedi" but encompassing the entire series "From Menace to Jedi"

I don't know about you but I have waited patiently for this series to play itself out. I have purchased every set of VHS tapes produced (including the ones that only had the different cover designs) as well as the 2 DVD's. I am also absolutely going to buy any other DVD's as they are released. I own "Beneath the Dome" and many of the other silly little attempts that Lucas made to make more money. I have patiently waited for almost 5 years so they could finish the series and then worry about the DVD's. I know it sounds greedy and selfish but I think after nearly $100 billion world wide we are sort of owed a mega release that includes both versions of 4,5 and 6 as well as the available versions of 1 through 3 and all of the documentaries.

When the series is all finished and the work starts on the DVD collection, give me a 12 disc set that holds everything that is available as well as a sincere thank you from George.

Now that's a dream.......

Hehehe.....

The dream part is George Lucas sending a sincere Thank You........Not one of his boring monotone interviews where he pretends to acknowledge the fans and vaguely shows his appreciation for those of us that have sustained his budget so he could make all those other classic lucasfilm flops (Indiana Jones, Willow and American Grafitti not withstanding (think Howard the Duck))

The expensive part couldn't cost more than 120 bones, and if the announcement was made far enough in advance, anyone could save it up. 10 bucks a week = 12 weeks. Us hard core SW fans wouldn't even blink. Kinda like Star Trek fans shelling out 80 bucks for 1 season of Star Trek episodes or those 10 Battlestar Galactica fans buying 1 season of episodes for 89 bucks or more. Just to get a cool looking Cylon thingy. Just kidding, I liked BSG but no way I'm shelling that much out for it. I'll get it on Ebay next year for 30 bucks.

My overall point is.......If he builds it, we will come <eg> but he has to remember the fans. We put him where he is, so a little appreciation would go a long way. And it seems to me like the most sincere form of appreciation George could show us is to put the original versions of the films in the DVD sets.

my 2 cents worth....George, Ya listening?

This is exactly what I've been saying all along. Almost word for word. Thank you, j105. Glad to have you on board.

I agree with a two disc set for each movie. One disc with the Special Edition the other disc with extras. Maybe a separate three disc trilogy set for those who want the originals.

I agree Lucas should give something back to the fans. But IF the original versions ever get released, I think it will be in the form of a special gift boxed set, like the E.T. set that came out a couple of years ago. If you wanted the "fixed version" as well as the original '82 release, you had to shell out 3 times the price!

That was the plan with E.T., at least. What happened was that SS intervened and all versions of E.T. came with both the 1982 and 2002 versions, but the extra special features that were supposed to be on the 2nd disc wound up in the gift set. Damn you, Universal!

Nah, I didn't damn them at all. I was just happy to get both versions and only have to pay $20 for them. Wonderful thing those first-week sales.

I wholeheartedly agree with J109(is that right). George would not be where he is if people like us had not given of our time and hard-earned dollars. We chose to commit ourselves to this story. Now it would be in good character if he would commit the story to us. We've given you nearly 30 years George! It's high time you gave us something back out of sheer gratitude.

Also for those on this forum, I will not post here after December 27th. Because I will be in Grand Rapids with NO INTERNET.

Well, my parents have dial-up and my outlaws have a spotty DSL connection, so after the 20th, don't expect to see a lot of me until the 29th.

The Falcon, when I was a kid, was no more than about US$40. If even that.
