According to this article, the entire saga is coming out in the 4K format:

Most likely the 2011 Blu Ray versions.

I will not buy them if you’re prediction is true. Lets hope you’re wrong.
The prequels will never be 4K.
The prequels will never be 4K.
They’ll be upscaled and enhanced with HDR
The Phantom Menace was shot on 35MM so that can be true 4K, however the other two prequels were shot digitally and not even at 1080p

TPM’s effects weren’t done at 4k though, so most of the movie will still have to be upscaled. And since they probably won’t go through the effort of replacing the handful of VFX-free shots with native 4k material, I’d even guess they’ll just upscale the whole thing.
Well if they have Legacy so they could use that but leave Empire and Jedi cause there changes are good except Hayden ghost at the end of Jedi
So I’d guess OUT
I’d buy a 4K SE as long as they fixed the color and sound. The lazy mastering on the 2011 discs bothers me far more than the actual changes. I’m not so partisan about my Star Wars preferences that I’d pass up a really good HDR version of the OT simply because it isn’t my preferred cut. And anyway, 4K77 will be out soon enough.

I HATE the SE

I’d buy a 4k SE as long as it’s required to download future projects I’m interested in.
End of line.
I don’t like all the changes, but I’m okay with some of them. I like the ships taking off or flying through space, but I hate the dance number in Jabba’s Palace. Some things tell a better story visually, but the unwanted changes, like Vader’s Nooooo, or big Ranto walking in front of the camera is just plain stupid. I also hate the stupid Buster Keaton slip and fall crap, like Jar Jar.
I’m done with the SE’s - shameful travesties. Theatrical cut of the original trilogy (1977-83) or no sale!
I’m excited for yet another Disney Star Wars Blu-Ray/4K release, because the picture and sound quality has been excellent so far. I’d say the only thing these Blu-Rays are lacking are engaging extras.
The SEs should be the special feature this time, not the other way around. Then one day people can think of them as weird curios.
Not that it will ever happen, this release or any other.

We can only hope.
They can’t do a 4K release without including the OUT. God CANNOT hate OUT fans that much, surely?

Only time will tell.

So by trying to appear technologically innovative Lucas shot AotC and RotS on formats that can’t meet today’s high resolution standards, but the first one from 1977 can? That’s hilarious.
AotC and RotS are the worst two IMO anyway.

You can’t deny he was technologically innovative though, since most movies today are shot in digital cameras and Lucas was the one that started the trend.
Digital photo cameras replaced analog ones, but George Lucas has nothing to do with that. Digital film cameras would have come anyways, Lucas was just among the first to use them, maybe even before the technology was ready.
Ceci n’est pas une signature.
Lucas wasn’t just using them, he helped the technology to develop (à la James Cameron). You can hate the guy of the SE and the PT, but you should keep in mind the guy was a genius about camera, editing and innovation.
I don’t see what’s so revolutionary about using the same cameras from the 8 o’clock news to shoot your movie.

Well, back in 1977, nobody knew you could source 4K resolution footage out of 35MM film stock.
