Plus it has a decent director. I have nothing against Chris Columbus (after all, the man wrote Gremlins), but I thought his interpretation of the first 2 HP books was a little too literal-minded.

Columbus didn't do too terribly. He stayed pretty honest, but they were pretty light instead of the dark that I was imagining. Azkaban is a very dark book and the movie looks like it will reflect that fact well. I'm looking for to what Cuaron has done with the story. And I'm looking forward to seeing how Harris' Dumbledore replacement does.

Michael Gambon is a fine actor; I think he'll do rather nicely as long as he doesn't try to ape Richard Harris, which I doubt he'll do.

Not an HP fan, but Cuaron is a great director, so I'm actually looking forward to this one. Little Princess (his best work, IMO) is a marvelous film, and everyone I've shown the DVD to has loved it. If you like films for the whole family that have a magical quality, but also a real edge then I can't recommend it enough.


Finally caught Win a Date with Tad Hamilton and Not Another Teen Movie. I'll probably write up reviews for 'em, but just to end the suspense...

Motti, yep NATM was surprisingly funny.

Sorry Dayv, but WADWTH wasn't.

HOWEVER, I thought Sugar and Spice was frickin' hilarious and better than both. So there ya go

I take reviews for any movie even if I've already seen it and reviewed it. Visit my site and look at the Kill Bill, v1 review to see how I list multiple reviews. I don't want to wind up with 30 reviews of the same flick, but 2 (or even 3) is not too bad. Gives people a couple different perspectives.

But those two I have not yet seen. Not planning on Van Helsing. But I'd like to eventually see Punisher.

It was fantastic.

Another fantastic movie I just rented and am now planning to buy is The Cooler with William H. Macy, Alec Baldwin, and Maria Bello. Damn good movie about a Vegas "cooler" (Macy) and his relationship with his casino boss (Baldwin) and a waitress in the casino (Bello). Alec definitely deserved his Oscar nom for this one.

In case you're wondering, a "cooler" is someone who can turn a casino winner into a loser just by his very presence. He has such a negative vibe about him, that a hot table turns cool.

Bubba Ho-tep comes out next Tuesday, May 25th.

Dang Bossk, I just caught the Cooler last night and was gonna recommend it myself and here you beat me to it!

You're right though, great flick. I've enjoyed Macey's work since Bakersfield PD.

Haven't seen Miracles though. I'll probably check out GBU: SE next.
