I can’t believe some people on twitter are dredging up the Baker/Daniels feud at a time like this. They deserve a swift robotic knee to the groin.

Baker/Daniels feud? First I’ve heard of one.

Also, how old was Baker? Scrolling through Twitter I’ve seen some articles and tweets saying 81, others 83. Wikipedia says 81, is this correct?

Rudy Van Gelder

Rudy Van Gelder - 91

Recording engineer and jazz legend. This man was a master of his craft, and if you’ve heard any of the Blue Notes jazz greats, you’ve heard his work. If you haven’t, you should check out the RVG editions of any classic jazz album.

Gene Wilder - 83

I’m hearing conflicting reports. Some were saying he died over the weekend, and that it was a hoax on Sunday, but I’m seeing it blow up again in a lot of reputable places today.

What a shit year this is.

Bummer.

Yep. Lost a grandfather to it. Not looking forward to my own old age, to be honest.

Don’t be so pessimistic. We could have solved these problems by the time you get to old age, so keep your hopes up.

Damn, I really liked him. Willie Wonka was probably the first movie I ever saw him in. He was good in nearly everything he ever did. (He and Richard Pyror were probably the most unlikely comedy team in movie history, but it worked.) Everybody remembers Blazing Saddles, but he also did a Western with Harrison Ford.

I hope TCM does a day’s worth of his movies.

My dad took us to see Willy Wonka. I think he got at least as much of a kick out of it as we did.

RIP and may you be judged worthy, Mr. Wilder
