More likely, they lose interest when they find out there aren’t any other women present. I know if I were to join a forum where 100.99% of the posters were women, I’d probably lose interest in posting without anyone to talk guy talk with.

Wait do you think you’re talking guy talk here?

No …

There are certain times where objectivity does apply to art. If I said that the Mona Lisa depicted a rat being eaten by a living piece of pasta, that would be objectively wrong.

Once again, you mix up the difference between making a value judgment about how good a work an art is, and a factual claim that is objectively right or wrong. Really not that difficult a concept to understand.

Frink, please read this.

Ok, I read it. Now what?

Let me add my two cents:

A movie (or any piece of art) can be objectively bad or good. There are plenty of aspects in which, say, Attack of the Clones fails. This is the objectivity of art. Bad dialogue, acting, and storyline make a movie bad. These things are basically what makes a movie a movie, and failing at that is enough to call a movie “bad”.

However, you can still like an objectively “bad” movie. For example, Sharknado is an objectively bad movie, but I still kind of love it sense it entertains me. A movie’s “bad” or “good” status doesn’t hinder your ability to like it.

Now, do you mean you won’t be able to go on in an objective way or a subjective way?

Obviously subjective. It’s not possible to go on or to not go on objectively, because we all do it differently.

You believe all of the OT films are of the same quality?

First, quality is non-existent property when it comes to art (i.e. completely subjective things).

Second, I like them all equally.

I stated the truth. Any arguments against it would be futile.

It’s nonexistent in the fact that it’s not something physically tangible but it exists in the mind and that is all that is pertinent for this conversation.

Second, I like them all equally.

SW and ESB I can understand because the have advantages over the other. SW is funnier, more visually interesting, has a catchier soundtrack and has the aura about it. It’s the epitome of classic Star Wars. ESB has a better written script, is better paced, has way better acting and dialogue.

I don’t really consider ROTJ as being in the same league. At it’s best it exceeds a lot of moments that came before it but other aspects of the film leave a sour taste in my mouth.
