The scan is meant to look like the actual print that the team had in their hands, not like another print of the movie .

I’m halfway through watching this and I’ll share my comments:

I agree with others about the intro, I’d suggest removing it as it makes easier for us to add tracks to the film. Also as your objective was to make it looks as original as it could, that takes a little away from it. Of course you guys deserve all the credit and we all love you for doing this, not diminishing any of it!

The intro will remain, but will be separate from the movie. Alternately, you can clip the intro for yourself.

About the missing frames, I would try to add the missing frames from other sources, even GOUT if comes to that. Again, it would help all of us and then this would be a fully complete version.

No, since that is not the intent of the project.

The light bleeding or whatever it’s called is pretty bad in all scenes where there is direct light. Is it still fixable for the BD at this point?

The video is pretty much finalized, that result is inherent in our scan. Some color correction may alleviate this.

As others have said, this is a truly awesome effort and I cannot thank you enough for doing this. This is and will be my go to version from now on. Thanks for everything and looking forward for the BD and your other releases.

We appreciate the feedback.

If you check back over our statements, we would prefer the community fix, and arrange things according to their preferences. We can’t add everything that people want, and satisfy all the requests that people have,
because many conflict with each other, and there would be no end of corrections.

But you are a team. You have virtually unlimited resources and time. Now get back to work.

I’m so disappointed in the lack of Technicolor in this non Technicolor print. And seriously why isn’t this thing in 4k? And the grain! Don’t get me started on the grain. If god meant for grain to be in our movies he wouldn’t have invented digital cameras and DVNR. Can I get an Amen??? Anyone?

The Silver Screen Edition is truly amazing, I have a question though. Why didn’t you colour correct it to match the technicolor prints? IMO it would’ve made it a lot cooler.

The upcoming Eastman vs Technicolor version will take care of that.

Is it going to be split screen, where the split line continually shifts back and forth as Eastman fights Technicolor, and one side eventually wins out?

We think it should be Foxy Boxing.

What exactly is the Eastman vs Technicolor version?

Done watching SSE35mm, it looks awesome!

I tried a test Blu-ray conversion using AVCHDCoder and the audio was out by 2-3 seconds. ouch!
It’s surprising because all previous movies I’ve converted on AVCHDCoder (inc SW-DE & ESB DE) have been in perfect sink.

Any other Blu-ray creators you guys could recommend?

Great work. I just got a look at the release and it’s pretty impressive. Until the project to do a 4K scan and cleanup of a Technicolor IB print finishes, this is sure to be the reference against which all Star Wars versions are judged. One thing I do wonder is if there will be any way for the community to fix/add the missing frames? Will there be a way for those who want to work on such a project to get access to the cleaned-up-but-not-yet-compressed frame scans?

I apologize if this question is stupid. I’m a long time reader, first time poster. Will this version, by any chance, be available on sites other than Myspleen (for those of us who don’t have accounts/invites/etc)?

P.S. Thanks for all your great work, and hope to see the whole thing in full myself someday!

EDIT: Thanks for the invite, you know who (I’m not sure if you’d like to be publicly identified).

The new version we are working on is based on Eastman prints, with Technicolor references.

Just trying to help out there.

All jesting and trolling aside. What I love most about this community and release is how everyone wants to contribute and chip in. I love how someone cut a 5.1 audio file to mix with this new release that is now available on MySpleen. I look forward to the Bluray. Oh nerds.

I stumbled across this image in some article and it shows nicely how much more real the '97 CGI looks with some generational loss and 35mm colors. I think if TN1 do a 35mm transfer of the '97SE, like they said they eventually would, it could be a great resource for anyone wanting to do any kind of semi-specialized edition.
