Just want to say, that I still hope to finish this edit, hopefully before the release of ESB:R.
If I cannot make the probe droid scene the way I'll be happy with, I'll just leave it in as it is (or re-cut is in some other way).

If you mean the torture droid If you can't do something better I'd use the original timing and original needle.
As much as I love Ady's efforts the electro-needle take me out of the moment.
You could try removing the droid and having Vader fix her with his eyes.
You could then doctor the line so he doesn't mention the probe and just explains "Her resistance is considerable..."
That way all the power comes from him and not a machine.
Yes, I meant the torture droid. I'll try to think of something, but the torture droid MUST go. I personally really don't like the old fashioned needle, and well everything else about it.
Hopefully one of the FX savvy guys is reading this and is prepared to mask out the the droid for the few shots you can't just edit him out of.
The next trick would be to create a new shot of Vader and maybe add the Force rumble effect.
Does Carrie scream in fear ever?
She lets out a cry of pain in ROTJ but it's not blood curdling (think Ripley in Aliens when the Alien Queen pulls the power-loader down the hatch to the airlock).
If the the door shut on Leia's cell and we heard a blood curdling scream it would really make Vader look much more nasty.

She screams in fear at the mynock in ESB. Maybe some tweaking could be done to make it sound longer or different? I don't know.

No, I do not plan a HD version.
I am now working on my last try at masking the torture droid. If it does't work out, than I'll probably try to recut the scene or just leave it in.

Okay if not then please for the love of all that is good in the universe release it in DVD-9.
I will release it with the least amount of compression, so either DVD-9 or some other newer codec with the compression set to minimum. I don't want to degrade the ANH:R with the re-encode. Larger file size in these times should not be an issue.
My almost final attempt at removing the torture droid:
I just could not manage the correct tracking of the mask throughout the scene, so I replaced parts of it with Lea. Not perfect, but the best I can do.

Please expand your comment regarding the audio. I really want to put this scene behind me, so I can move on towards finishing this edit.
It is a bit odd because Leia is clearly emoting at something behind Vader.
Once again one for the fx savvy crowd but maybe if in the corridor behind one of her crew was being dragged off to (or shoved into) a furnace or something to replace the view that's missing.
And a scream would really help punctuate this scene.

I agree. It's a good work, I can honestly believe that there is no droid in that scene. But as Bingowings says, Leia is clearly looking at something else. Maybe you can use another scene from ANH where Leia is looking in the same direction as Vader (and add to that scene the background of her cell) to finish that scene? There's also the noise that the droid makes, maybe you can get the original soundtrack of the movie to fix this?

Maybe the reaction shot should be moved to as soon as the door opens that way she is now looking at Vader entering instead of the droid.
Controversial suggestion here, as highly as I regard the door coming down as a scene ender it might make sense in this context if the door came down as soon as everyone was in the room.
It feels odd that Vader and the boys come in (and it's almost a shame to have the guards seeing as you are trying to make Vader look stronger) and stand with the door open for at least a minute.
You could have one of those snap shut doors on the cell so you could sample the door shut and open and manufacture a rapidly closing door from the two elements. When Vader delivers his line there could be an instant scream that is muffled by the view going to guard walking down the corridor (with the door still shut).

EDIT: As for a scream you could use; Leia gives a nice scream when escaping with Han and C-3P0 from Hoth.

I was not done with the audio part yet, only video. I'll see what I can do to remove the torture droid sound (and potentially add a scream ;) ).

I imagine a Margot Kidder scream from the same time period would sound sort of right (better than Ian McDiarmid sounding like Mark Hamill in ESB:SE97).

Leia's scream at 8:59 would match better because it is a more typical scream. The manipulation with this particular scream would be a nice idea.
As for the edit as a whole; what is ETA of this edit?
That is more of a yelp of surprise.
What is needed is a blood curdling scream of terror so maybe a sample from a horror film or a scream heavy show like Doctor Who would do it ;-D
Just to be sure, where would you guys place the scream? I was thinking just after the Vader close-up / before Lea's scared reaction.
Prison block corridor, Guard activates door mechanism and Vader and the boys begin to come in.
Leia's reaction is now at Vader not the droid.
The door comes down. Leia is now trapped in the room with the monster.
VADER (now in a cell with a closed door): And now your highness, we will discuss the location of your hidden rebel base.
Close up of Vader, altered from elsewhere in the film, Tantive with the cell behind him makes most sense with the Force rumble heard in the choking scene.
Something like :
We hear Leia scream over this.
Later Vader tells Tarkin : Her resistance is considerable.
Tarkin then comes up with the Alderaan plan without Vader needed to admit to needing more time.
