The original Blues Brothers. Five out of five balls! The first time I saw it was with my best friend only 5 hours before he left for college - not a bad time to decide to watch it! I was surprised by the number of musical guests, even though I knew the movie was driven by music. It's a lot of fun; something kind of unique about it is I feel the comedy is completely situational rather than being driven by any of the dialogue. A fun ride (emphasis on ride) that I'd be shocked if any of you hadn't seen it yet.

Oh yeah, and getting up and dancing to the credits was definitely 100% worth it.

In anticipation of this second viewing, I watched Badlands, Days of Heaven, and The Thin Red Line (I saw The New World when it came out). I think Days of Heaven was my favorite of the three...

Days of Heaven - 10/10

The movie Days of Heaven is very close to the life of my great-great-great-great grandmother, Murtle Gullion. (the girl character in Days of Heaven) Many people in my family have questioned whether or not somebody knew about her life, and wanted a film made.

Here's some pictures that my mom has of her:

She was an odd duck.

Your great-great-great-great grandmother? That makes me feel old. My grandfather on my mom's side was born in 1899.

V for Vendetta - 10 Valls out of 10

Since they're like poetry, what with the rhyming and all, I find that I only need to watch three out of the six films.

Supergirl

5 out of 10

Why hasn't this been fan-edited yet? I can think of a number of things that could improve it and tie it into the chris reeve films a bit more.

Such as...

- Tying in the destruction of Krypton with the foundation of Argo City.

- Reduce the romantic subplot.- Tie in some footage from the other films, in particular footage with Marc McClure, as he already appears in this movie.

- Replace the title sequence with a more Superman-esque titles. Except in yellow instead of Blue.

Shouldn't that be five Valls out of five (using Roman numerals)?

The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations. Not as good as the first, not as bad as the second; 5/10.

Rubber.

I expected a story about a self-aware tire that goes on a rampage.

I did not expect a story about a self-aware tire that goes on a rampage where the tire makes the most sense of anything in the movie.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

I was surprised by how good it was. Excellent origin story that covers the bases. Computer Images worked well for me, also.

My Uncle lived in SanFran. He's the type of guy who couldn't help making lots of friends. I've been out there several times with my family. It was fun to see that beautiful area displayed on the big screen.

5 well deserved balls out of 5.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Awesome. The ending is the one of my favorites movie endings of all time. I have the special edition set which comes with the screenplay and the film cell.

A second time.

Liked it even more.  Caught a few details I'd missed the first time.  Really felt the depth of the story and character. A third viewing will be next week.

I had it ready to move into my Top Ten list but wanted to let it steep a couple of weeks before I jumped the gun.  It's in.  Now all I have to do is think a little more on what gets moved into the 11-20, but I have it narrowed down to two.  The list and a brief explanation of it's workings are in a txt doc on my work machine.  Once the change is finalized,  I'll post it in the Top Ten thread.

[Rec]2

Damn I love these [Rec] movies.  This is what horror should be, and they're also some of the better uses of first person camera / found footage / whateveryoucallit film style.

The only quibble I had was at the very end of the movie there was a brief Ric Olie moment, showing us something that was already clear.  Although I will admit it was pretty creepy and disgusting, it wasn't needed.

I suppose you could argue the subplot with the kids sneaking into the building wasn't necessary other than to get the runtime up to feature length, but I was ok with it...and I did like how it converged with the primary story.

I started watching the Lord of the Rings Appendices found on the EE DVDs.  Hitting "play all" and watching them all like long documentary features is really awesome

Does it still have that annoying deleted scene in it?

A few years ago I bought a reissue of the film with a ton of cool extra stuff, only to discover it had that dumb deleted scene in it, as a result I have still hung onto my non-anamorphic copy.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

3 damn dirty apes out of 4.

I found the ending to be a bit weak but had fun along the way. Visually the film was flawless but the story could have done with some tightening.

Hey Anchorhead, did you ever see this?
