-1, if I could use two words to describe you, it would be "yes-man". You seem to be of the "bend over and take it philosophy". Not that there is anything wrong with that, from what I understands it makes life a hell of a lot easier.
easier ? no its the exact opposite....
didn't you see the list of all the versions i've bought since 1.0 ....
how do you think maintaining compatiblity through all those versions has gone through
the years...... you call that easy???????????????
in fact with VISTA, i had some issues at the beginning which caused me to downgrade
to XP temporarily..............................................
when you need software that works with a specific version of windows, you don't have
much of a choice do you>?????
besides, i even found a computer (a pentium 4) someone left, and fixed it up for free,
and i have put windows 95/98/XP on a multiboot, because i have programs (mostly games)
THAT ONLY work with specific versions of windows... and will probably never work with XP,
or VISTA...... i dont' call that easy...
So, while they weren't forcing you at gun point to upgrade to Vista, they were certianly trying to make things as complicated as possible for those who did not.
like i said, what do you want them to do? not make a new OS?
not compete with osx, or linux? sit back and keep trying to patch the outdated XP?
no, they have to make new versions, its part of their business model.....
and its always been complicated upgrading..... did you even notice all the problems with
windows 98? (notice all the service packs).. how about the problems with XP? (again, mulitple
service packs).... VISTA has actually been EASIER to move to, then the upgrades to NT 3.0, NT3.1,
NT 4.0, windows 2000, and yes even XP..
XP had terrible issues when it came out, and i could barely get most of my programs to work
with it..
VISTA has mostly been a breeze, and now that there is service pack, more drivers, and support,
its the way to go forward...
i expect WINDOWS 7 will streamline it even further..
It sucks for everyone who dished out the cash to upgrade, only to need to do it again a few years later, while the upgrade they did pay for already has been nothing but a buggy pain in the **** from the getgo.
no, that's just a part of their system, i take it you've never needed to upgrade,
so just skip out on it again..
EVERY VERSION OF WINDOWS RELEASED had bugs, this is nothing new...
for those people that constantly use software, and need the newest versions,
we'll be the ones trying it out, while you wait or get left behind...
later
