As soon as you stop trolling, and make a decent attempt to provide something rational and reasonable and maybe, just maybe, something of substance to these boards.

If that's too much to handle, then what's the point, really? How much longer are you going to continue embarrasing yourself on a board of people whom you obviously hold a great deal of contempt for?

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

That's the thing.... I have no contempt for you guys at all. Its great folks got together and started this petition. I do think it's silly to keep complaining that the OOT you fought so hard for isn't up to your technical standards... "beggers can't be choosers"

It goes back to the Basher Sanctuary over at TFN. I used to love going in there and mixing it up but folks think "gushers" are there out of hatred. Some might be, but not me. I think message boards are more fun with different points of view. Instead of post after post of people patting each other on the back.

I started this thread to show that LOTR DVD releases are met with no problem from fans at all. But a SW DVD release starts an outbreak of hatred like someone kicked your kitten.

I know that some of you haven't liked every single thing that I've done with the saga, and that you have a strong sense of ownership over all things Star Wars. But take that passion and devotion and channel it into a creative project of your own."

How silly is it to keep bringing up this tired argument? I'll even quote you: "but, for the one billionth time." And your .sig, over and over: "Its not your movie, never was, never will be."

Get a new argument, or get a life. Simple as that. If you had read my previous post, this would fall under the "substance" statement. Your feeble attempts are old and tired, and certainly not "fun".

"and I've been banned for a year at TFN.... your buddy Strillo saw to that."

Again, if you knew me, you'd know I've never liked strilo. He's one of the first people I got into an argument with when I first joined TF.n many moons ago, and I constantly called on his behavior in the Basher's Sanctuary.

Having knowledge of the people you argue against just ain't your thing, is it?

MeBeJedi, is there not something we can ban JediRandy for? I am sick of his obvious stupidity and his useless posts.

Dood, I would assume that the reason why is simply because LOTR fans get both versions in high quality. While SW fans get crap as bonus features to represent the OOT.

Not arguing man. And having knowledge of you isn't exactly at the top of my "To Do" list.

And calling Strillo your "buddy" was me being sarcastic. But your inability to lighten up kept you from getting that.

Simply regarding the comparisons between Lucas and Jackson......
Clerks 2 is apparently going to include quite a bit of dialogue about this.

This thread is going the wrong way. Get over it, both of you. (And by that I mean MeBeJedi - calm down stay on topic, and JediRandy - quit with the baiting "Basher's Sanctuary folks" crap)

To me, Jackson seems to following in the footsteps of Lucas with the "milking fans for more money" re-release ploy. There is a huge difference here though, and it's the main reason why we have all the controversy. While Jackson's LOTR re-releases offer bigger and better features, Lucas' Star Wars re-releases are quite the opposite. Yes, we get the OUT as a bonus feature, which is a phenomenal thing in itself. But how is it that in this day and age a major studio puts out a LETTERBOX feature on DVD from a master tape that's resolution is actually LOWER than that of DVD? You don't see Jackson doing anything like that, do you?

There's another difference ... the LotR releases have been gold from day one. There are essentially no problems with them. These rereleases are really just repackaging. If you want the new documentary, or a Gollum statue or whatever, you buy the rerelease. If all you want is the movie, you can be satisfied with the initial release. And I am very satisfied with the initial theatrical and EE releases. As far as I am concerned, Mr. Jackson can release his trilogy anew every week for the next year; he's provided me with a quality product, and that's what matters.

The Star Wars Trilogy, on the other hand, was junk from day one. Bad color, bad sound, bad content. And none of the releases to date have fixed any of that. If all you want is a good presentation of the movie, well, you're not getting it. Not in the Vaderface boxset, not in the poster art boxset, and not in the photoshop edition.

That's the difference. It's not about how many times something is released. It's about consistent quality vs. consistent ... not quality.

Randy, how is the comparison valid at all when Lucas controls what is done with Star Wars, but Rings is controlled by a studio, and gets the SAME milking/frequent releasing pattern all big-selling studio movies get, whether it's Rings or American Pie?

Ridiculous. The OT DVD set is a fine set. It looks and sound great. It sucks in your opinion because it's not the OOT. The bonus disk has a 2 hour documentary on it with other documentaries on it as well.

It most certainly does NOT look OR sound great! Colors are oversaturated one shot, undersaturated the next, the audio mix is screwed up for ANH - or are you in LFL's "deliberate creative decision" camp?

JediRandy, here is the thing about that set, it was the first SW OT set on DVD so many fans were going to buy it no matter what, cause I was one of them. At that point, I was starving for any SW OT movies on DVD, and the changes were the least of my worries. But if I had my choice, of course I would prefer the O-OT.

If Lucas put out just the O-OT in 2004 on DVD, it would have sold the same amount, and probably more for all the holdout fans waiting who won't buy it. I don't think any fan of the SE would not have bought the OT DVD's in 2004, if they were just the O-OT. I mean those same fans were buying all those videos before 1997 and loved the OT just as much!

The problem is now for Lucas is fans like me who bought the SE once because we wanted the OT so badly, but wont buy any future sets without the O-OT. I have admitted here that I will buy the Sept Release even in Non-Anamorphic cause I have to have it, so now I have what I want on DVD.

The only time I will buy a SW set again, if it is Anamorphic. There will be many here who want buy the sept release, but again, I am in the middle. But if Lucas puts out a super duper 2007 OT/PT saga boxset with more changes, I have no interest, cause I already have what I want, and you will see sales plummet of O-OT fans who bought once, but not again. If Lucas puts a saga boxset in 2007 with O-OT/SE-OT/PT, then I will fork out my money.

Don't be fooled by those 2004 SE numbers, they would have been the same if it was just the O-OT.

And for some reason, we're supposed to believe that the opinion of an acknowledged troll about the DVDs isn't equally ridiculous or unbiased?

Oh, so now the research finally comes. Interesting change in tactics. One whole awards show. Big whoop.

Don't confuse the selling power of the Star Wars brand with its quality, much less a trade association award. Many, many DVD websites talked about the colors and audio of the films. The detail is great, but there are still many, many problems with them, so much so that LFL has to make excuses about them.

Oh, so now you are making excuses for them too. Spin?

JediRandy the Vaderface DVD boxset sucks when it comes to quality! A New Hope has a constant blue tent in white areas, Vader's lightsaber is pink with no visible white core, and the Force Fan Fair during the Battle of Yavin is completely drowned out for half of the battle.George Lucas said that was a creative choice, but that is complete and utter bull shit. On the French audio on the disc you can hear the force fan fair just fine for the complete battle. Lucas is a leech every time he releases something he feeds us lies about how it is so much better, but when we get it it is no better than what we had.

There's an easy way to remedy that.

It's not like you weren't leaving anyways.

And it's not like you didn't come riding in on your "They're not your films" horse, either. Don't bring it if you can't take it.
