Phoenix is actually an inspired choice. Doesn’t mean the whole story isn’t baffling though.

I see. It would be nice if they actually went through with it, but somehow I doubt it.
Before BvS and all that, I thought Man of Steel was set in the same universe as Nolan’s trilogy.
It wasn’t supposed to be either. It was meant to be its own separate thing. Then Marvel Studios happened and MoS was reverse engineered to be part of a new universe to set up Justice League.
