i’ve always wondered- why does Ewan have a fake beard in the re-shoots? Why did he shave if he knew they were coming back?

I believe the specificity of the answer you’re looking for would be better answered by an email to George Lucas. I said they were similar, I posted articles about the two directors being friends and being on each others film shoots, I also said I did not know what the contents of their actual discussions were.
I came to this thread hoping to have some fun discussing this and it looks like a fun discussion is not on the agenda so I am politely bowing out of the thread.

Ewan also could have had some other project scheduled between the end of principal photography and the eventual reshoots months later.

Just seems weird that he wouldn’t just keep the beard/plan to grow it back out in time.
His beard in the movie isn’t even that long.
Glad I grew up (21) with AotC on VHS and I couldn’t tell that the beard was fake in some shots.
Then again it looks fine to me even now, since the the beard and the fake beard alternate so much, even within a scene. It’s less jarring than if he, say, had the real one for first half the movie then had the fake one for the second half.

It does look fairly convincing. It looks like a real beard, it just doesn’t look as uniform as Ewan’s beard.

I am German and when i saw the ‘Red Tails’ i was shocked & amused likewise how horrible inaccurate the spoken german was. It is ten times worse than the faulty DIE HARD german (Hans Gruber: “Schieß den Fenster!”). And the portrayal of the German villain (the one with the scar) - “The American pilots are African!”/“Die, you African fool!” - dear god, even for a ‘movie Nazi’ incredible dumb & stupid.
Rogue One is redundant. Just play the first mission of DARK FORCES.
