I have to pay my respects to Don Rickles, he was a massive influence on me.

Genuinely curious, how so?

His cavalier attitude, and tendency to just say and do whatever he thought was massively appealing to me. He never wrote any of his jokes, though he’d repeat some, he never had anything planned, so most if not all of his performances were improv. Him being around was a big confidence booster.

Don’t forget those Dean Martin roasts. Don really shinned in those.

Oh damn! I saw an article, and I thought I read April 7 2017. Oops! Well, better late than never.

Damn. Freeze Frame was probably one of the first music videos I ever saw. MTV wasn’t even on the air yet.

Centerfold and Love Stinks are also classics.

I think it’s a safe bet whoever decided to start that rumor had been smoking something at the time. 😉

He really liked to play the bad guy.

He was also excellent as Philip Marlowe in the early 80’s HBO series based on the Chandler detective novels. (Back when a cable channel producing it’s own dramatic shows was still a novel idea.) It had great opening titles by Maurice Binder, who of course did all the James Bond title sequences.

I’ve never of this series before.
