Rogue One * Spoilers * Thread — Page 113

I know very passionate fans, of any fandom, can sometimes take it to a whole other level.
But at the end of the day, you have to stop squabbling at the super nitty bitty gritty of details.
I like a wide variety of Movies, TV, Cartoons, Video Games & collecting said memorabilia.
However, no matter how much I like a certain media, the Forums & Communities have superfans that know “absolutely everything”.
I can never attain that level of dedication.

I’m just glad that these Forums exist and everyone can share their knowledge & love for whatever intrigues them.

There’s an old vacuum commercial with Frank Sinatra (I think) dancing with a vacuum (or maybe it was Singing in the Rain Footage) that they made sometime after Forest Gump pioneered the technology of placing old actors (or JFK, in the case of Forest Gump) in new footage, so they’ve been at it for a while now.

It was Fred Astaire and a Dirt Devil and they got in a lot of trouble with his estate.

Keep Circulating the Tapes.

Uh, it was his estate that pimped him out while stiffing documentaries and other legit venues of even being able to use film clips of him. Moral of the story, don’t marry a control freak late in life who will whore out your likeness after you’re dead.

Ah, it was his daughter that was upset apparently.

Fine. We’re both to blame, but unlike you, I’m going to be an adult about this going forward. I’ll just ignore every worthless thing you post.

If you could be civil then everything would go a lot better. There’s no reason why we can’t all agree or disagree on topics without being miserable sob’s towards each other.

To the extent I’ve ever behaved that way towards another poster, I apologize.

I do take issue with the need by a few of you to play hall monitor and police every thread in vain attempts to squelch all negative comments towards Disney and their mediocre-to-terrible films. Especially considering their behavior regarding the most important Star Wars issue of all. To put things in perspective, it was 6 years between the time George released the GOUT and the time he sold all rights to Disney. It has now been 5 years since Disney took over, and still no OOT.

Considering their films are barely better than the prequels, which is not saying much, this lack of action should be considered an outrage.

Here’s some perspective:

Fox owns distribution rights to the original Star Wars, No. 4 in the series, in perpetuity in all media worldwide. And as for the five subsequent movies, Fox has theatrical, nontheatrical and home video rights worldwide through May 2020.

While the rights on those five films eventually will revert to Disney, that “in perpetuity” pact for the first film appears to be an obstacle to Disney releasing a complete set – unless a deal can be made.

Yeah everyone already knows that. Are you guys trying to suggest that Fox is the reason the OOT hasn’t been released? Because boy, that’s a good one…

The issue with Fox has never made much sense to me. If Batman '66 can get a complete series set, unscathed, then this should be nothing in comparison.

Your ability top circumvent reality via mental gymnastics is fucking impeccable. They’re not going to release the OUT incomplete so you’re dead wrong.

'66 Batman took decades to sort out the issues between Fox and Warner Bros. though. It’s a miracle we got it at all.

Of course they won’t release an incomplete complete set, but thinking business deals can’t still be made is even sillier. Thanks for insulting me for being reasonable.

Leave young Jyn out of this; she’s been through enough.

Yeah but Jyn and Galen sorted out their issues in like 70 minutes.

Indeed, that’s why I was saying this shouldn’t be a problem, as the rights issues with Star Wars are much more clear cut. We’ve already gotten the digital releases and numerous repackagings of the 2011 complete set under Disney’s reign, so they’ve clearly already sorted something out. The hardest part of an OUT release would be who’s footing the bill for the restoration.

Hey Hasbro, this is what I was talking about when I commented on lack of civility a minute ago.

Fox is most definitely not the reason the OOT hasn’t been released. DUCY?
