K people, I’d like to delve into comics…(big inhale)

I’m nervous and I know that the hardest part isn’t knowing where to start. I have decided the first superhero I’d like to read is Batman for various complicated reasons. I know there are MANY writers who have done Batman and many storylines. Iv heard Hush, TDKR, Year one, Killing Joke and specifically Long Halloween are good (very intrigued by Long Halloween).

But I also watched a video explaining how the new 52 Batman series (Death in the family, Endgame etc.) is the definitive entry point for new readers of Batman. Many opinions and my only prefence is that I like trade paperbacks with many comics collected in one. Any suggestions from comic book buffs here would be fantastic! Thanks
