I greatly enjoyed watching the Blu Ray of your edit and applaud what you have done. I have only 2 minor complaints though:

  1. The transition from AUJ to DOS feels a little rushed but as a positive the transition from DOS to BOTFA is ABSOLUTELY SEAMLESS!
  2. We don’t know why Gandalf didn’t follow them out of Rivendell.

Besides these 2 minor issues I have with the edit, I must say…this edit is truly incredible. It now takes its rightful place as the prequel to the LOTR Trilogy in our family’s marathons from this year onward. Thank you!!!

Thanks so much! Glad you took the time to download the Bluray…I put a lot of work into that haha. I can address the two points you’ve made.

  1. The AUJ to DOS transition was smoother in my first cut of the edit, because I removed the eagle sequence. Originally I had the party start running from the orcs/wargs, and cut immediately to them running towards Beorn’s house in DOS. However, many people complained about losing the eagles so I re-inserted them for the final cut. That however meant that I had to figure out a way to get the company off those eagles and into Beorn’s house…no easy task since at the end of AUJ they’re dropped off on top of the Carrock and we never see them get down. So I did the best I could with what I had to work with.
  2. As for Gandalf remaining in Rivendell, I didn’t want to show Galadriel or the White Council at all in the edit, so that meant I couldn’t really show why he stays behind. His comings and goings in the book aren’t really elaborated upon, so you could argue that fits with his actions in this edit!

Thanks again for the feedback 😄
