It’s like someone put a hand grenade in a clip-art library.
On the albums sleeve you can turn an inner, circular paper to change the imagery on the front. It’s pretty neat.
Are you one of those vinyl people?
Are you anti-vinyl? Vinyl is great; deal with it.
I don’t really like the culture of vinyl people. Especially the people who say it sounds better than CD.
A lot of it can depend on your equipment. If you have a bad turntable then it probably won’t sound as good as a CD in a Bose CD player, but generally speaking analogue sounds much better on a good setup.
Ok, so here we go:
A common belief is that analog mediums sound better than digital. People that support that belief will often say something about quantization errors and star steps etc. Basically it boils down to “A digital medium can’t represent all the sounds that analog can.” Well, that is a misguided belief that probably started in Usenet in the mid 90s. The truth is that digital mediums can faithfully represent wave signals without being a stair step. See this video for an explanation. Also, another argument that the analog people bring up is who warmer analog sounds. However, that “warmth” is just the result of inaccuracies. The fact is that digital more faithfully represents a sound wave that traveled through the air. Analog just has certain inaccuracies that prevent it from being the best representation of a sound. Now, analog mediums may sound better to you, but that’s because you’re accustomed to all the inaccuracies of vinyl. You have nostalgia for them. But digital is objectively better at representing sound.
