Post jokes, images, discussion topics, quotes, what have you. It’s about time we have a dedicated thread to the most finely crafted and memorable cartoon this side of The Simpsons. The first three seasons that is (four if you’re really stretching).

I’ve heard good things about the quality of the show since Stephen Hillenburg rejoined the production. While Season Nine has apparently picked up greatly in its humor and wit, Season Ten will give a lot more freedom to Hillenburg to put things back in place, so to speak. So here’s hoping the kids’ll be able to watch something of the same merit as the late nineties/early 2000’s era.

Also, there’s a musical in production. Never mind that, though.

I hated that show as a kid. Then as an adult I grew to love it but was too embarrassed to tell anybody. Is this like a support group for that?

I thought it was well done back when it first started, but it quickly devolved into being very disgusting and miserable. In my humble opinion of course.

Haven’t watched in a while. Hasn’t been good in about a decade. If I ever catch an older episode, I’ll put it on, but that hasn’t happened in a while.

In all seriousness I think you’d find at least the first season enjoyable. It’s not as grating or juvenile as the isolated, random one liners people like to quote may lead you to believe. Season One is much more charming than it is humorous; it’s visually driven and constrained in the absence of a legacy and fandom behind it. By three it’s practically a parody of itself, but in the most positive sense of the definition. Could’ve been a modern day Simpsons if it was handled properly through the years.

I’ve never heard anyone quote a Spongebob one-liner before in my life.
