why Philly??? when in the name of god are we going to win championship?

The real sad part is this was winnable game. With 3 minutes left in the game, down 10 points and the clock was running the Eagles were walking to the line. Walking!!! Where the hell was their sense of urgency?????

And the last possession, the Eagles self destructed. When you have 45 seconds on the clock and the no timeouts YOU DON'T THROW TO THE CENTER OF THE FIELD!!! You have to pass to the sidelines and get out of bounds and stop the clock. What the !@$##@$# was that 5 yard pass that ran 30 seconds off the clock. WHAT THE F*** WHERE THEY THINKING?????

HAS ANYONE ON THE EAGLES EVER HEARD OF A HURRY-UP OR NO-HUDDLE OFFENSE!!?!!

Mcnabb, where was your head? You let me down bigtime. You couldn't hit the broadside of a barn with your passing yesterday! How many interceptions did you throw?!?

Another little thing. At the end of the first half. Eagles had the ball and they let the clock run out. They had plenty of time to get the ball into fieldgoal range. And they didn't even try. That's 3 points they blew! THREE POINTS!!! The final score 24 to 21......THREE POINTS!!!!

I'm sorry for this rant but my team blew the Superbowl and it might be 24 years until they get to another one, with another 5 rings for Dallas in-between and I am STEAMING MAD!!!!!

Just think of it this way.... you're likely to win a Super Bowl well before the Bears do.

Feel better? I don't.

Okay, I'll grant you that. But at least you guys have had several winning seasons lately. We've had one that I would consider a truly winning season. And then we lost to you in the first round of the playoffs. Last game in the old Soldier Field to boot.

You guys will win. And I would be willing to bet it will happen within the next five seasons. May sound like a long time to wait, but at least you're not also a Cubs fan.

Let's recap, shall we, since the Cubs last appeared in the World Series in 1945.

Phillies in the World Series - 1993 (lost 4-2), 1983 (lost 4-1), 1950 (lost 4-0).

Cubs in World Series - hmmm... we haven't even been in it!!!

Maybe you lost 'em, but at least you've been alive to see them in the Series for one or two of them (I can't remember how old you are).

Packers and Eagles need to have a little temporary coach swap:

Mike Sherman can give lessons in clock management.
Andy Reid can help the Packers learn to tackle.

aaa Bossk, you forgot 1980...when the Phillies actually won the series

since the sixers won the NBA championship in 1983, Philly has won no championships while Chicago was won 7.

1 with the Bears and 6 with the Bulls. I agree that the Cubs are cursed but your whole city isn't. Mine is.

Okay, touche. And the Bulls are making a resurgence of late. But, in terms of the teams that I follow (the Bears and Cubs), I have one championship and only 1 championship game appearance, both by the 85-86 Bears while you have five (four appearances and one win) by the Phillies alone. I don't know the Eagles history.

Unless you want to include indoor soccer, Cleveland hasn't had a champion since 1964.

Indians made it to the series in 1995 and 1997, but before that, it was 1954.
Cavaliers have never made a championship appearance.

alright maybe cleveland is cursed as well.

In terms of teams that I follow (Phillies and Eagles) since 1980, They have won zero championships, while you have won one. While we have been to more, your city has won more(since 1980).

Well, Philly never had a river burn (to my knowledge), so we may be a little beyond being cursed.

There's a radio talk-show host proclaiming that all people from Cleveland are going to heaven...because we've already experienced hell.

On top of the sports, the city is in general decline. Unemployment is up. Kids are dumb. The unions have a firm grip on the city.

You want to know how this city tries to encourage growth??
Property tax abatements (among the properties not paying taxes are Gund Arena, Jacob's Field, Cleveland Browns Stadium, probably the Rock Hall of Fame).

What pays for the public schools?
Property taxes.

The city tries to get people to come with lower taxes, but the people stay away because of the bad schools.

I'm sorry, I'm getting off topic.
Needless to say, I think Cleveland may have it worse off.
Author
Time
well maybe.

You had a river burn?? How can a river burn? Its full of water. Last time I checked, water is not flammable.
Author
Time
Oh, it does. Water can burn. Depends on what is floating on top of it.

Now have either of you had an entire city burn thanks to a hapless cow? Didn't think so.

Ok, the stuff floating on top of the river could burn. But the river itself could not burn. Water does not burn.

And no, A cow never started fire in Philly. Although we did have quite the fire in 1985. In fact there are alot of people who believe it has somthing to do with the curse on Philly.

Why have I never heard of a Philly Curse? While the Billygoat Curse or the Curse of the Bambino are pretty widespread in terms of recognition.

What is the curse all about? What supposedly happened to start it?

In the 70s, the Cuyahoga River caught fire. Its not something Clevelanders (that were here) are proud of.

The river and Lake Erie are better now, but the reputation remains. We have a micro-brewery in the area that offers a 'Burning River Ale'.
