Ranking the Star Wars films — Page 22

The T-Rex in JP looks A LOT better than the things in AOTC. Also, about the being in the dark thing, that’s called “the filmmakers being intelligent and using techniques to hide special effects”, like framing, color timing, grain structure, softness of image, contrast, light/dark in image, etc. And I’d like to add that my personal preference for watching JP is the 35mm print scan, because it includes all of the previously mentioned aspects of the film, which are not present on the home video releases (obviously).

EDIT: Here’s what that JP shot is supposed to look like.

Army of Darkness: The Medieval Deadit | The Terminator - Color Regrade | The Wrong Trousers - Audio Preservation
SONIC RACES THROUGH THE GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF HIS HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE SUN RISES AND SETS.
DON’T GIVE UP ON THE SUN. DON’T MAKE THE SUN LAUGH AT YOU.

I think I’m gonna watch JP tonight. That’s one movie which knew how to utilize its CG properly.

More examples of computer generated beauty.
(kind of getting off topic, but I’m not starting a new thread for these)

As someone who has never seen JP those look more real than 90 percent of the CGI that was in the PT. In my opinion at least.

are you guys for real? The second and third are fine, but the first looks awful.

A question I have asked myself about you.

In general yes I’m being serious. All 3 images dinosaurs seem more tangible to me. But to be fair anything looks better than this.

I can make better special effects with my fecal matter.

The thing is that AOTC came out 9 years after JP and had double the budget but still couldn’t pull off the right CGI or writing or tension for that matter, I agree that the CGI at SOME moments doesn’t look that good but for the most part it’s fine. AOTC is more comparable to the movie “Dinosaur” by Disney in almost every way.

Hey I can cherrypick too.

So what? You keep using that one shot, even though it looks almost just as artificial as the rest of movie.
(I’m debating whether or not I should call AOTC and ROTS “films”)

I used the same shot as the one I used the last time Haseo used his shot.

The problem is that while the posters should look digital, the rest of the shot also looks digital.

And having an actual person thrown in there only exacerbates the problem.

Why is digital a problem.

“Digital” itself isn’t a problem, it’s the fact that it looks digital, as in, out of place and fake.

All those AOTC shots with animals look good, and better than the JP t-rex considering that CG usually looks a lot worse in bright light. The t-rex’s head looks great, but where the light is shining on the top of his leg it doesn’t look too good.

please stop playing video games right now and go out and experience the world. You are spending so much time playing them that you are forgetting what real objects look like. Well thats the only reason i can think of that would make you think those AOTC animals look good.
