After many years of lurking these forums and enjoying the work of many OT members (I’ve been a myspleen member since 2007), I’ve finally signed up for an account here because I feel inspired to start my own project. But I felt like my first post should really be in this thread.

Harmy, thanks for all your crazy hard work over the years. Thanks to you, I’ve been able to enjoy these classic films with people I care about time and time again, without the disappointment and frustration that comes from poorly-inserted CGI and missing wonderful original physical effects shots.

I watched your latest versions recently with my wife in the weeks leading up to the release of TFA. She was bemused at first by my excitement over the “new Harmys” since I’d last watched them - in fact, at first she had no idea what I meant by different versions of the films! It turned out she hadn’t seen them since she was a kid, watching the unaltered versions on VHS. Once she saw the video explaining how you made your versions, she was horrified by the SE changes and amazed by the effort you’ve gone to - as we all are.

A couple of days ago I downloaded Team -1’s new 35mm release of the first film, and we greatly enjoyed it. There’s something about a true restored film scan that is intangible, like listening to a high quality vinyl rip of a classic album instead of a remastered CD. But I know one day I’ll be as excited as a little kid at Christmas when I download your Despecialized 3.0.

Thanks again!
