I havent posted in here for a while now. But the other day I rewatched the ESB and realized of a mistake. I dont know if it is already fixed or if it is impossible to fix because there are people in movement involved.

When han is brought to his cell after being tortured, two stormtroopers carry him with his arms around their shoulders. When they drop him, Han's arm twists and pulls up one of the stormtroopers helmets.

The guy then walks away like if nothing happened even if he clearly cant see with the helmet like that.

If this was discussed before, sorry for bringing it up again.

Like the Death Star goof couldn't that just happen in real life?

Vader's helmet moving up and down in the wind needed fixing because it's clearly meant to be metal and heavy and the character demands a degree of wardrobe control but the trooper armour has always seemed lighter and more like glossy plastic so Han is just as capable of knocking it as Harrison was.

^ THIS!!!!!!! Has this been fixed? Everytime I watch ESB I'm nervous Vader's helmet is going to fly off.

Of course, but a real Stormtrooper would've taken a second to fix his helmet, whereas an extra can't do anything to draw attention to himself, so he just walks out of the scene with his helmet askew which is silly.

Short of dubbing in a trooper voice saying, "aye....cut it out scum" and then patting his helmet down I'm not sure what sort of solution would fit.

hm, could the helmet/head of Trooper #2 be "copy&pasted" ?

then the goof never existed ;-)

I think there is a difference between errors and goofs.

One of the many strengths of the Revisited project is Ady's unbelievably keen eye for spotting errors (inconsistencies, sloppy visual effects, etc.), and finding creative and invisible ways of fixing them. Making the film internally consistent and visually pristine are ways in which the films have benefitted from Ady's thoughtful and comprehensive editing approach.

One of the reasons we are all so passionate about this project is because we are huge Star Wars fans. Many of us have grown up (and old!) with the films, and our connections to them are deep -- but also unique. For many fans, noticing goofs like the stormtrooper bumping his head in ANH has been part of the Star Wars experience -- a reward for watching closely, and a fun bit of trivia to discuss and share. Goofs like this are not visual effects errors in the way that Luke's lightsaber turning green in ANH is, or consistency errors like the number of blaster rifles on a rack changing is.

I'm not saying things like this should absolutely not be changed (for example, I thought fixing the instrument that C-3P0 bumps his head against when getting into the Falcon in Cloud City so it didn't wobble was a good change, but mainly because that seemed more like an error (in-universe, the Falcon doesn't have glued-on instruments), so it was in the spirit of internal consistency to fix it), but I do think we should be thoughtful about which things we suggest fixing. I know for many of us, the Revisited edition will be our primary version of the films, and we don't want to sterilize the film to the point where there aren't bits of fun historical trivia to enjoy anymore.

Well said, Sojourn. I agree.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

I agree. I dunno how it could be fixed, but I'd love to see it happen.

like asterisk8 said, a real soldier would have corrected a "wardrobe malfunction" - as for the head bump, it is as Luke said earlier, their sight isn't that good, and so the "goof" is consistent with "reality" ;-)

other than Jango/Boba Fett bumping his head, THAT was just stupid ...

The troopers all being cloned from Jango (also the source for Boba), and the idea that they'd be genetically predisposed to not watch where they're going thereby rendering them prone to bumping their heads (because apparently Jango is clumsy)....the whole thing. ALL stupid.

Apologies for the derailment.

That stormtrooper helmet Is a pretty bad goof. Banging your head is one thing but Now I will sit and wait for that to happen in this scene so I'll join the please fix if possible group. I know goofs can be charming but I don't think this one is in the charming catergory.

You can see the actor or extras head which is a big no no to me.

I said there can't be many more then wham! straight in with another will this ever end?

I have never once noticed this helmet thing, even after being told about it. I'll admit, I haven't looked specifically for it, but it's never drawn my attention from the main characters.

What are we going to do, recreate the shot with a 501st member who doesn't lose his helmet?

??? I wondered if his helmet could be cut out and rotated into the right position on his head. I watched it in slow motion but I think the real tricky thing about this is that it is slanted off his head. That's what perhaps makes it all the more tricky and perhaps un-fixable. But I do believe it could be made less so obvious.

Or even try to clone the other troopers helmet onto the unfortunate ones head.

If a decision to try and fix it was made that is.

Just watched the clip & it doesn't really look so bad,....really the only part that lasts with me is the trooper walking away and seeing more black of the back of his neck,....moving the helmet down slightly might improve the goof

Since we are on this whole capture of Han section, I thought I would post up a rough mock up I did for the sound of Hans Blaster about 5 months ago. His gun makes the same sound through out ANH and ROTJ but in ESB it makes 3 different sounds.

To me Hans Blaster is a signature sound like Dirty Harry's magnum has a unique sound.

Here's the dining room scene with the most frequently used sound for his Blaster.

http://www.mediafire.com/watch/zr2v48lm6p5ywv8/hans_Blaster_fix%281%29.wmv

Now weather or not this should be altered or not I personally don't mind but I think it's worth considering and I think it could be a potential improvement if done better than the way I have in the rough mock up also because Ady has added the very cool ricochet's my thought was to re-time the original weedier sound for those bounce off lasers but I will leave it there. the other instance is when in the belly of the asteroid worm thing. Han shoots a mynoch is a different sound but when he shoots the ground the normal sound for his Blaster is heard once again. It's not too much trouble to alter it but it's a case of should it be altered?

I brought this up a while ago but never posted the mock up so I thought I would share it now as It is perhaps more appropriate at this time.

I also found a page with restored music ques today. And there is some stuff I really like in them. The page is below.

http://www.starwarz.com/tbone/the-empire-strikes-back-restored-music/

Now with regard to this as there is quite a few videos, But I will try and point out what I liked the most if you are thinking of adding extra musical cues in I hope others will do the same or what and how using some of it or selected parts can be perhaps another way to look at it.

Echo Base :- from "General I gotta Leave" I thought was good otherwise it was bad.

Han to the Rescue :- Nah did not work for me

Hoth Search - Good up until Luke finally collapses. Perhaps up until the 2nd shot of Han riding the taun taun accent but no more end on the timpani probably. That music cue of the first shot of Han on the Taun Taun is really interesting to me though.

Probe Droid - Good up until C3PO talking about imperial code but once that line is over the score reverts back to being good again up until the lead into the probe droid shots which is a bit over done. But once Han and chewie engage good again until Imperial fleet shots

North Ridge - nah does not work

Meet Yoda - playful begining is good but once we get to yoda eating the food stick then it's interferring. But Playful outro on "come we must eat" is good also. there is an extra chime before the cue that exists in the original that would be a nice add coming in a couple of seconds earlier.

Mynocks - Wow the way that starts is amazing but I think the silence is better once we get to the falcon cockpit. But I liked the mysterious sting when Leia first catches a glimpse of a Mynock

Jedi Training - Nah does not work. But I like the atmospherics that kick in as Luke puts Yoda down leading into Darkside Cave.

Luke Vs Vader 1 - The entrance atmospheric music to the carbon freeze chamber are great up until Vader speaks.

Luke Vs Vader 2 :- the music sting as Luke looses his light sabre is good for all 2 seconds of it otherwise did the scene no justice.

That is my pick and ditch of the unused score.

Is this the best place to post a suggestion for a future ANH HD revisited change? I don't want to necro-bump the ANH Revisited thread if it's going to annoy anyone.

Also, and I'm not gonna lie, while it fixes a long-time plot hole it's not an 'originally intended' suggestion/fix.
