Apparently, Warner gave up on this idea, so we’ll probably never see a 1980s, 1990s or 2000s collection, which is a shame. To collect EVERYTHING Charlie Brown/ Snoopy/ Peanuts on DVD in the USA in as-aired order, (not counting documentaries/ stage musicals, etc) you need these (from Warner Bros unless noted otherwise):

Peanuts 1960s Collection
Peanuts 1970s Collection Vol. 1
Peanuts 1970s Collection Vol. 2

Peanuts: Emmy Honored Collection (contains 9 episodes not in the decade releases and 2 duplicates, see below)
You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown
Happiness is a Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown
The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show: The Complete Series (MOD on DVD-r)
This is America, Charlie Brown (WB version, as Paramount version is missing a scene)
Peanuts Double Feature (first two movies on two DVDs, Paramount)
Race For Your Life, Charlie Brown (Paramount)
Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown (And Don’t Come Back!!) (Paramount)
Peanuts Motion Comics (MOD on DVD-r)
The Peanuts Movie

All of the other releases are a hodge-podge of one or two episodes out-of-airing order, most of which are fully or partially duplicated in the above.

My goal is to collect all of the other episodes and movies, including everything not yet on DVD, and create my own aired-order collections, which would continue the decade sets. To break these down, they would contain these animated specials, in this order: (taken from NTSC R1 DVDs if available. If not released on DVD, source is listed):

Peanuts 1970s Movie Collection:

Disc 1 (Retail DVD):

  • A Boy Named Charlie Brown (1969)

Peanuts 1980’s Movie Collection:

Disc 1 (Retail DVD):

  • Race For Your Life, Charlie Brown (1977)

Disc 2 (Retail DVD):

  • Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown (And Don’t Come Back!!) (1980)
  • Travels with Charlie: The Making of Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown documentary

Peanuts 1980’s collection vol 2:

Peanuts 1990’s collection:

Disc 1:

  • Why, Charlie Brown, Why? (1990)
  • Snoopy’s Reunion (1991)
  • It’s Spring Training, Charlie Brown (1992)

Disc 2:

  • It’s Christmastime Again, Charlie Brown (1992)
  • You’re in the Super Bowl, Charlie Brown (1994) (VHS-rip)
  • It Was My Best Birthday Ever, Charlie Brown (1997) (VCD-converted)

Peanuts 2000’s collection:

Disc 1:

  • A Charlie Brown Valentine (2002)
  • Charlie Brown’s Christmas Tales (2002)

Disc 2:

  • Lucy Must Be Traded, Charlie Brown (2003)
  • I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown (2003)
  • He’s a Bully, Charlie Brown (2006)

Disc 3 (Retail DVD):

  • Happiness is a Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown (2011)
  • Various bonus features

These would all have custom menus and cover art created by me to match the retail 1960s and 1970s collections. Once complete and with some custom covers, your collection would look like this:

Peanuts 1960s Collection (retail)
Peanuts 1970s Movie Collection (retail)
Peanuts 1970s Collection Vol. 1 (retail)
Peanuts 1970s Collection Vol. 2 (retail)
Peanuts 1980s Collection Vol. 1
Peanuts 1980s Movie Collection (retail)
Peanuts 1980s Collection Vol. 2
Peanuts 1980s: The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show (retail)
Peanuts 1980s: This is America, Charlie Brown (retail)
Peanuts 1990s Collection (2 discs)
Peanuts 2000s Collection (3 discs)
Peanuts Motion Comics
The Peanuts Movie

The collections would also contain all of the bonus features from the single disc releases (which were not carried over to the decade sets):

The Making of A Charlie Brown Christmas (2001)
A Christmas Miracle: The Making of A Charlie Brown Christmas (2008)
We Need a Blockbuster, Charlie Brown
Snoopy’s Home Ice: The Story of the Redwood Empire Ice Arena
The Polls Don’t Lie: The Making of You’re Not Elected, Charlie Brown
Popcorn and Jellybeans: Making a Thanksgiving Classic
In Full Bloom: Peanuts at Easter
Unlucky in Love: An Unrequited Love Story
Dust Yourself Off and Pick Yourself Up, Charlie Brown
Together Again: A Peanuts Voice-cast Reunion
An Enduring Classic: Peanuts Creator Charles Shultz
Sibling Rivalry: Growing Up Van Pelt

plus the bonus features on the unchanged retail DVDs

In addition to the above, in order to legally own these collections, you would need to own these WB NTSC R1 DVDs (listed with what was used from each in parenthesis):

A Charlie Brown Valentine (A Charlie Brown Valentine)
Charlie Brown’s Christmas Tales (Charlie Brown’s Christmas Tales)
Snoopy’s Reunion Deluxe Edition (Snoopy’s Reunion, Together Again documentary)
I Want A Dog For Christmas, Charlie Brown Deluxe Edition (Happy New Year; I Want A Dog For Christmas, Sibling Rivalry documentary)
Happiness is Peanuts: Go Snoopy Go! (It’s Spring Training)
A Charlie Brown Christmas Deluxe Edition (It’s Christmastime Again; A Christmas Miracle documentary)
Happiness is Peanuts: Team Snoopy (Lucy Must Be Traded)
He’s a Bully, Charlie Brown (He’s a Bully)

For documentaries only, these were used:

He’s Your Dog, Charlie Brown Deluxe Edition (Snoopy’s Home Ice: The Story of the Redwood Empire Ice Arena)
It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown Deluxe Edition (We Need a Blockbuster, Charlie Brown)
You’re Not Elected, Charlie Brown Deluxe Edition (The Polls Don’t Lie: The Making of You’re Not Elected, Charlie Brown)
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Deluxe Edition (Popcorn and Jellybeans: Making a Thanksgiving Classic)
Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown Deluxe Edition (Unlucky in Love: An Unrequited Love Story)
It’s the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown (In Full Bloom: Peanuts at Easter)
You’re a Good Sport, Charlie Brown (Dust Yourself Off and Pick Yourself Up, Charlie Brown)

Peanuts: Emmy Honored Collection is a two disc set which contains the following: She’s a Good Skate, Charlie Brown; Life Is a Circus, Charlie Brown; It’s Magic, Charlie Brown; Someday You’ll Find Her, Charlie Brown; Is This Goodbye, Charlie Brown?; What Have We Learned, Charlie Brown?; It’s Flashbeagle, Charlie Brown; Snoopy’s Getting Married, Charlie Brown; Why, Charlie Brown, Why? as well as two specials from the 1970s Vol 2 set: You’re a Good Sport, Charlie Brown and You’re the Greatest, Charlie Brown.

Everything else is from out-of-region and out-of-print DVDs, VHSs and one Video CD. I used the Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show six disc set from Australia to obtain the specials A Charlie Brown Celebration, It’s an Adventure, Charlie Brown, and Snoopy!!! The Musical as they are bonus features on the set, which have not been released on NTSC DVD. It’s The Pied Piper, Charlie Brown is an OOP Paramount DVD. I chopped off the Paramount open/ ending logos to match everything else, and it also contains the documentary An Enduring Classic. The OOPs Paramount version of I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown contains The Making of A Charlie Brown Christmas from 2001.

This project will include only the English audio and no subtitles. Since not much is changed from the retail DVDs, except the ordering of the specials, I will do this in a manner how I did “Backstroke of the West”, meaning I supply the menus and the rare material, as well as instructions for ripping the rest yourself.
