How does Star Wars Begins compare to Deleted Magic?

I haven't seen Deleted Magic.

They're very similar.  In my opinion, neither is absolutely complete without the other.  They both have a few things the other does not.  I'd get them both.

It's been a while since I watched either, but to my memory Deleted Magic seemed more scattershot than Star Wars Begins.

Jambe began his film after he'd covered Empire and Jedi -- since ocpmovie had well-covered Star Wars -- but then decided to cover that film also.

So he seemed to have a better sense of purpose, a more focused approach.

If you watch both then I'd recommend watching Deleted Magic first. There was even a Revisited version, but again its description seemed interesting but scattershot and I don't think I ever watched it through.

And what I'd *really* recommend of ocpmovie's work is "Return of the Ewok": his reconstruction and preservation of a fascinating short film made while Jedi was filming, and hilarious. Turns out, memorably, that Carrie Fisher spent her time in her dressing room wearing her outfit from Jabba's palace.

“Before the Dark Times. Before the Prequels.”

There was little difference to the Revisited version.  He included a more complete human Jabba scene (since Jambe had uncovered an additional resource for it) and made an additional color shot of Luke and Treadwell working on the vaporator, but I don't think there was anything else substantially different.

I finally sat down to watch this, and my Jambe Star Wars Documentary Experience (TM) is finally complete.  If you've seen Building Empire and/or Returning to Jedi, there's nothing new here.  By which I mean it's the same fantastic, exhaustive mix of audio commentary, text commentary, deleted scenes, alternate takes, storyboards, comics, behind-the-scenes clips, and pretty-much-anything-else-you-can-think-of that we've come to expect from Jambe.  Brilliant work!

Ten thumbs up out of ten.

Side note: I don't remember contributing anything to this project, but thanks for putting me in the credits anyway!

Before YouTube shut it down, there was an ~1.2GB, 7-hour version floating around there. Was it an official edit?

Those were the 3 documentaries in 1 video

Then I'm better off grabbing the versions from Vimeo since at least two of them have 1280x720 versions, right? Also, what os the order in which to watch them: Building Empire-->Returning to Jedi-->Begins?

They are independent from each other, but Empire -> Jedi -> Begins was the order in which the documentaries were produced. JD "released" them on standard dual layer DVDs, I'm not what's the source of the 720p versions

Thanks dude. It was all in the mix as they say. Thanks for the support.

The 720p version are just upconversions. A little experiment really. The 7 hour combined versions were uploaded to youtube without my consent. They seem to have been taken down now.

I'm from Germany and have no time to read all old post here, so sorry if I talk about something, that has been already discussed.

I want to make just a Bonus-Disc with Deleted scenes to the original theatrical version of the trilogy. As PAL DVD and/or Blu Ray.

For that reason, I need all sources you (Jambe) used for the reconstruction of the original Jabba scene from 1977 with Declan Mulhollan, to try to make my own version.

I have a good DVD-Transfer of the 1997 German Laserdisc, the official DVD and Blu Ray, the 1997 VHS with the short documentary and the UK VHS "From Star Wars to Jedi".

If I could get your sources, I would try to recreate the scene in HD, like Harmy described how he made his despecialised reconstruction of the movie in this Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHfLX_TMduY

On my google research, I saw you used apple final cut for making your documentaries. But which version? I have Final Cut Po 7.

This time it's not exactly the same. This time I wrote a very short version, with the most important facts.

Because of the language problems?
