So it's looking like 2013 is going to be a banner year for Scifi. So far we have the following to look forward to:

Oblivion

After Earth

Ender's Game

Pacific Rim (my personal favorite)

Which are you looking forward to and why do you think 2013 is turning into such a good year for the genre?

Don't get your hopes to high. I'm stoked and plan to see all those, but it's possible any could be "Prometheuses"

And really, at this point arent 2/3 of all movies released "sci fi" in some sense?

I'll second both Ender's Game and Star Trek into Darkness, and I'll add The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which will contain more sci-fi elements than its predecessor.

I don't know anything about Oblivion, but I'm definately going to see all of the other movies listed so far, especially Star Trek II 2.

Elysium. Neill Blomkamp is probably my favorite sci-fi film director of the past 10 or so years and the premise of this new movie sounds intriguing, not to mention its great casting choices. I have hope for this one. If it at least comes close to the quality of District 9 I'll be a happy camper.

How is nobody here talking about Pacific Rim?

Fucking giant monsters fighting huge robots and Idris Elba. WHAT MORE IS THERE TO LIFE GENTLEMEN?

Huge robots with the voice of GLaDOS, piloted by one of the Sons of Anarchy. I'm in.

Sorry, but I'll be waiting another year for my Giant Monster fix.

"Godzilla" (2014)

Most of those films I've never heard of, the rest that I have I hold no interest for, so uber-meh.

Man that's a bad poster. I hope it's not real.

You do know you can see more than one movie, right?

It was less that he's not going to see Pacific Rim because of that and more that he's just hyped for the latter, I think.

Also the watermark and the fact that I"ve never seen that poster before leads me to think it's a mock-up.

Saw the trailer for Oblivion. Looks pretty cool! Apparently next year is the year of post-apocalyptic movies. Which makes sense since the world is supposed to end next week.

1. STID

2. Elysium

3. Pacific Rim

I'll probably check out Ender's Game and Oblivion and After Earth if they get good reviews.

I'll also most certainly be seeing Iron Man 3, Man of Steel, The Wolverine, and Thor: The Dark World; if you consider those sci-fi.

Chances are I will also see Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith - 3D and maybe Attack of the Clones - 3D if I'm feeling particularly crazy. Because those are definitely sci-fi films. Not science fantasy.

Are you guys using browsers that don't highlight links? The first post has trailers for almost all of the films but it seems like some of you don't realize that... Just curious.

"Pacific Rim" kind of reminds me of that old movie "Robot Jox".

I'm really surprised more of you guys aren't paying attention to Oblivion.  The guy that got brought in to write the new Star Wars trilogy did that one.  He also did the screenplay adaptation for next year's Hunger Games.

Looking at the crew for Oblivion has got me extremely excited.  Veteran cast with some very talented up and comers on the crew.  Kosinski directed Tron, which while a simple not that special story, was visually great for someone's first film.

This is the main reason I'm interested. I generally don't give a crap about sci-fi unless it's Star Wars or WH40K.

I see what you did there..it should be fun if nothing else but I really hope it isn't Star Trek II 2.

Oblivion looks good. Pacific Rim looks Bad.
