I never thought of it like this. It still raises the hairs on the back of my neck when Han reappears, and I still breath the same sigh of relief as Luke.
There are similarities with - off the top of my head - Stardust and Fifth Element too. The emotional (internal) resolution directly resolves the external threat. Both are endings I've always enjoyed.
