Collaborative Fanediting: An ROTJ Proposition (BACK ON TRACK WITH EMANSWFAN AT THE HELM--SEE POST 1488 OR OP FOR A LINK!) — Page 36

I know I'm really, really late to the discussion (35 pages late!), but could I lend a hand, offer any ideas? I do have a pretty good video editor (Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10.0), and I have all of the deleted scenes in top-notch quality.

Also, if anyone needs a Palpatine voice, I'm rather good at that. ;-)

This project has already had several folks come and go already, so you're definitely not too late.  You are certainly welcome to bring what you have.  One of the biggest challenges has been fixing up the deleted scenes.  We've got one person on it, and I'm confident he will do a fantastic job.  However, I suspect he might appreciate a little help, as that is a pretty big task.  However, if you'd rather focus on some other task, that's okay.  I encourage you to skim through the past several pages and get an idea of what changes we're pretty certain we're making, and maybe you can think of something you might want to try.

As for Palpatine's voice, we will definitely need it when he is telling Jerjerrod to blow up Endor if the bunker is destroyed, so we could certainly use you there :)

Just want to note as I'm voting:
The orbit of the Death Star around Endor is unrealistic compared to our Earth and Moon, but the Death Star was constructed in orbit. Also in the game Universe Sandbox, there's a pre-made sim of the DS around Endor and it works fine, based on real principles of gravity, mass, etc.

(But if you blow it up, Endor gets hit with several big chunks right away. :V)

Ok so so far as my Bobba fett Idea goes Han cannot be removed from the scene where he hits his jetpack.... So It requires using other footage as a makeshift to make the sequence happen.

But probably better that actually goes anyway

Either you don't let real physics get in the way of a fantasy story with sounds in space or you could add an exciting special effects sequence where there is a mad rush to tractor the choicest chunks of freshly cooked battle station out of the way of the planet.

If the Death Star attempting to fire on Endor deleted sequence is used perhaps the station could be moved out of orbit to get a better aim.

While it's a feasible orbit, it seems more realistic to me for it to be constructed further out, even simply considering safety issues.  Of course it's a fantasy and it doesn't bother me for reasons of realism.  However, I feel it would also add to the immensity of the station to place its orbit further out.  It won't appear dwarfed by the larger moon, but will instead seem massive in its own right, with the more distant Endor appearing relatively diminutive.

Ok so after many hard hours work and learning how to use  the basics in after effects I have made some of my my vision happen albeit in a rough mock-up way. It's easier now to see my idea anyway... In other words it's Sh*t but I like it! :)

Bobba Fetts Demise

http://www.mediafire.com/?04r9tiqg35p6c6q

1. Moved Bobba's gun being chopped off to the end.

2. Moved the rope to the first attack Bobba makes

3. Fixed Lukes stupid Kick and removed Bobba flying in the air behind him

4. Moved Shot of the Barge geing hit again but removed Bobba

5. Removed Backgrounds when lukes hand gets hit so it appears that he is still on the nose of the skiff... Bobba shoots his Hand

6. New Shot for Bobba Taking to the sky for the second time

7. Removed Han hitting Bobbas Jet Pack

8. Bobba's head comes clean off and rests in the sand

9. Removed Bobbas head as he falls from the skiff into the sarlac pit

I don't mind constructive critiscism but it is wasted on me as I have only started using this software and it was not meant to be amazing quality anyway just for mock-up purposes... Hope you enjoy it and believe as I do that it can be done.

The falcon and the x-wing will be on tattooine atmosphere also to allow luke to go home so there will be more new shots coming

I will also be posting another later on

There's no link...

I just put it up it took me ages to convert it and then I realised I made an error so the post was just sitting there...

Link is up now!!!

what do you think? not of my after effects skills but the idea

Author

Well Ronster, the idea is sound, I will say that. If we can pull it off and make it flow and make sense and most importantly LOOK GOOD...I'm all for it.

Author

Thanks... It took me ages so I'm glad atleast somone likes it....

I've made a cut up until the briefing with proposed changes although I still have quite a bit of mocking up to do but I'm nearly there.....

Just to remind everyone....the bounty hunter's name is Boba Fett

I still think that removing Boba completely would be a better idea but this could definitely work and I'm sure that with some care it could be done. Definitely makes Boba's death less embarrassing.

But see, a LOT of people like Boba. I even like him with his lame death in ROTJ, it only mildly bothers me.

Well, he was set up to be a really cool character. He was distinct from the other bounty hunters because he knew how to outsmart the heroes.

lol whoops :)

Yeah I got some more scenes planned for that bloke ;)

Well, that's the thing, I quite like Boba too, or rather I like the character as he was introduced in ESB; a mysterious, ruthless, clever bounty hunter who only cares if he gets paid. In ROTJ he basically became just one of Jabba's cohorts (which was only reinforced by his even stupider appearance in ANH SE), and a pretty lame one at that, seeing as how all his attempts to stop Luke prove completely fruitless and then he dies because he can't control his own jet-pack... If I like a character, it doesn't mean I'll enjoy seeing him no matter how lame his actions on screen. It's kind of similar to the way lightsabres were way overused in the prequels - everybody loves lightsabres, they're cool, they're possibly the coolest weapon in a movie ever, so the more the better, right? Wrong! In the OT lightsabres weren't overused, so whenever we saw one, it was like "oh yeah, this is cool!" You don't get that feeling in the prequels, because there's a lightsabre on screen like 80% of the film's runtime.

Jist putting it out there but how would you like it that Boba Fett was the first character you see in ROTJ and all he cares about is getting paid?

You'll see it all in good time I have not done this bit yet.....

Well, it would be cool as long as it had bearing on the story and wasn't just fan-service.

Yes completeley story motivated.... Everything I want to do is story motivated more or less... Don't care for special effects for the sake of it really.

So another clip is on it's way in a mo.

It's the Transition from Dagobah to Tattooine including Yoda giving Luke a lightsabre crystal but the tattooine sequence is incomplete I need to make about 3 extra shots but I will have it finished soon enough but a taster for my idea is on it's way in next couple of posts

By that logic, since there are so many laser blasts in ANH, lasers must be lame.

I get what you're trying to say, but less is more doesn't always apply. But that's just my opinion.

Here's the other clip...

http://www.mediafire.com/?aqavinvcvq6fttv

Please try to remember that it is incomplete and the x-wing on tattooine is missing FX shots and audio samples too... aswell as Yoda needs Dubbing but it is for the purpose of structure I am doing this and trying to convey my ideas is the only way to mock it up... I hope you enjoy this storyboard video

Please give your feedback if you wish also... I am excited for this idea even though it's incomplete.

I like it, though the Xwings fly-through needs cutting down....or cut out completely, perhaps just an establishing shot of the Xwing landed in a canyon or something

Yes It needs cutting down and it also needs the finishing shot and the audio between luke and R2 which are from the Boba fett Cartoon Special....

the lines are "hang on R2"

and " See If I can locate the falcon with visual scanning" or somthing like that

The scanner will show a blip for the falcon rendevouz location mentioned at the end of ESB

I like the fact that yoda gives luke the crystal and then we see luke fitting it into the lightsabre on tattooine... For me it just connects the dots and makes yodas spirit live on a bit longer whilst expanding the story a bit

I did the Audio cuts for the space shots though as It was finished tattooine however is still WIP

Glad you like the general idea anyway..
