Well, going by the clips and progress images Ady has given us, he has consciously corrected scenes repositioning the Walkers to correct continuity.

well do you think Veers AT-AT is part of the 3 driving troops across the ice-field or he is out on his own heading for that target of the shield generator because you can interpret it one way or the other.....

oh sorry have not seen them images yet....

But that for me is the real split.

It's never been properly established where in relation to the base the generator is.

Presumably it's some distance away from the base or the Rebels would have detected the probe droid much earlier but also presumably it's near enough to efficiently be serviced by the Rebels.

The new Blueprints book has a map of how the base, battle, and generator were supposed to be laid out. It goes a long way in straightening things out.

I think your right that Veers starts off with the pack but then heads for the shield alone... Which would make the count 6.

3 for the ground assault front of Echo Base and 3 for the shield generator... So 2 AT-AT's get taken down on their way to the shield while the ground invasion AT-AT's take no casualties from the trenches and Rebel gun placements

Obviously there is a 3rd front with no AT-AT's at all where Vader lands which we see nothing of

The thing is it's so jumbled that it's like you are watching bits of a planned to be filmed ground assault but your not also.

You can tell Christmas is over can't you?

All those bottles of aftershave, all those ill fitting sweaters, character underpants etc.

So as a non-interested party why post in this thread at all?

I'm sure you could have started a critique of Adywan 'fans' and the ethos of his projects in the Off-Topic section (where your personal attacks will not necessarily get you an immediate ban...doh!).

This thread is for assisting what is already happening (wether you like it or not).

Your comments add nothing to this project which you don't approve of.

You don't have to approve with it but wafting in like a phantom and posting about that here isn't functional use of this space.

I know Christmass is over, don't seem to find the relevance though...

I am an interested "party" and I'm pretty sure that you can tell by the message I'm sending here. If I wasn't iwb subscribing and all. You gave me an interesting idea though and thank you for that. ;)

Anyhow, I'm assisting by critisising in the most possibly raw form. A "what not to do" point of view, or a "what bothers me is this", is an assistance as well. Do not try to blame it on me because you don't like the way I give my advice. Be the greater man and keep the present and not the wrapping if you find it unpleasant.

Doesn't matter if I approve it or not, won't make a difference, but I think that it adds up to something by itself already. But if you like to talk about speciffics like lets say visual integrity I' d be glad to remind you Mike Vertas thoughts on this and the previous project, that was critisised way more brutally than me. Well I agree with him because he knows damn well and better than most "great" people here about technicalities.

Sorry to have interupted your thoughts but I want to speak about what I want to speak and not about something boring.

... and that's a fact!

I remember saying pretty much the same thing when Ady got himself banned.

I would sue for breach of copy-write if I wasn't already everyone here so I would be technically paying a lawyer to sue myself.

In the comic book adaptation there was a small Rebel outpost (which possibly tended to the generator station) which is destroyed by the probe droid to cover it's tracks, the loss was put down to a Wampa attack.

I thought it was a good idea when I was ten but without the Wampa sub-plot the effect would possibly be to bring more attention to itself.

If you've got suggestions for improvement, I for one would be interested in hearing them.  But please be specific.  Saying that it just plain sucks is not exactly constructive criticism.

It never made the movie so I guess it was dis-reguarded as irrelevant .... Looks like they had enough problems just doing the battle footage without adding anymore in.... The fact the probe discovers the shield was enough to convey the message and lead to the invasion.

It just fell over on the Invasion, I never thought about it that much until I pulled the footage apart.... Do you think it would help to have distinguishing marks on which group of AT-AT's you were looking at? So you would know where you are in the battle somewhat because it is all snow and blue sky....

Sounds fair. I'm not a perfectionist and I care about the plot and the wholeness of a movie, but! Somethings just can't be taken forgranted for the respect of the viewers.

I'll give an example. BBC series, can be great. Great plots, ideas and imaginative creationism. Do I watch them? No. Not because they suck, far from it. They just don't respect the viewers visual sense. It's for children! In a few words, it's so cheap that it makes me mad. Such a pitty! The whole idea left incomplete, because of low budget visual perspectives and deadline hysteria. But atleast, they got solid reasons about this mess.

1) Industry standards and competitiveness.

2) They know in which parties their creations reffer to. Meaning they know their viewers and they know what they expect from them.

So... what is this projects excuse? You got time, you got feedback, you do not lack the money (meaning donations and well, it's a voluntary work afterall which means you do not expect money out of it), so... why this cheapness?

Is it because you refuse to listen to an advice that might be handy? I do not need to be able to create a movie in order to know if it's good or bad. Either visually either by script, plot, etc. I am the viewer and I know what I see and that is good enough to make a point out of it. What is your goal?

The cheapness I mean, is the outcome that comes out of inexperienced and bull-headed people that refuse to see the facts or that are so untallented that they lack the sense of visual beauty. I don't care about their lifes and how they carry on with this project and the why, lies behind the purpose of all this, which is... : In the end I just want to see a respectfull and better version of star wars. Not something mild or disrespectfull.

As for Ady and joining ILM. Come on! Stop bullying him!

Not saying in defence of ILM and what they did in SE.

Technical malfunctions in visuals that hit you right in the eye:

Bluriness, lack of natural lense behaviour, sterille aesthetics making everything look so clean and fake.

It's funny that he gives out earlier snapshots and later on saying that he's corercted them without giving any proof visually. (Awaiting the final release is the best excuse I've ever heard. If you want to get feedback about your work and maybe it will be good, then show us your final shots. I think it's common sense).

What? do you watch substantial parts of a movie before the release (not just short clips)? No. you wait until the release date.

...gives you a bit of an idea of where the shield generator was meant to be (though I feel that like much of everything else from that battle, it was just kinda thrown into a shot without much concern as to the greater layout of things)

In response to Tankgirl aka Nebula.... stop trying to sound intellectual. First off, your spelling and grammar are a dead give away that the persona you're trying to convey is inconsistent at best. Secondly, I haven't posted in this thread in over 3 years and I can tell you that I've heard some stupid shite come out of the minds of some of the fanboys and the trolls alike. You take the prize for dumbest thing this thread has seen in over 25,000 posts. That's quite an achievement. You my friend, make no sense and every single person on this thread realizes it. You know what I did with my criticism of SW:R? I went and made my own edit. Just the way I like it. You on the other hand, obviously upset at what Uncle George announced this week, come off like a 14 year old boy trying to make a name for yourself in the neighborhood. If you have something to contribute without being a lame and irritating child, please do so. If not, go make your own thread elsewhere, or better yet, your own edit. I'd love to see what you come up with.

Having read through some of your ramblings Nebula, it seems you take big issue with adywan's edit.  Unfortunately, I can't pin down exactly what your exact beef with it is, as your comments are unspecific, and a little confusing overall.

Nevertheless, you're certainly entitled to your opinion regardless, however negative.  Having said that, you seem to be quite a rude bugger if some of your initial posts are anything to go by.

Fair enough, but I'd just like to clarify something for you to do with your above comments - as one of those that have seen a very incomplete 'workprint' of ESB:R, I can assure you that adywan definately *has* continually improved on certain shots that he's only so far shown in an early, unfinished version on this thread.  And those have been dramatically improved on now, as far as I'm concerned, compared to the early versions.  You'll just have to accept my word on that, but he certainly doesn't owe it to any of us to keep showing every little additional amendment that he makes along the way.  And althought he's previewed heaps of things already, he's also previously mentioned how he'd like to keep quite a few touches undisclosed as a 'surprise' for those interested, when the edit is finished.

And adywan has certainly shown that he's open to constuctive 'feedback' from others, even though these edits are mainly for his own satisfaction at the end of the day.

However, I'm kinda unclear why you'd even be concerned about wanting to give your opinion on totally finished screenshots anyway, seeing as you seem to be so against this thing in the first place...

@ adywan - sorry to hear of the recent spate of 'hate-mail' you've mentioned on Facebook that you've received recently.  How ridiculous that some feel bothered by your own 'unofficial' enhancements to these movies, for your own enjoyment.  Don't let any of that nonsense distract you from the fact that you're putting some wonderful imagination and artistry into your projects.  If they aren't interested in your alternative take on these, then they've still got their own preferred versions readily available to them, so what's their issue?

And I'm hoping you'll get a chance to get round to some of those responses/answers on here you'd intended recently, but were unable to manage because of your connection problems.

Seriously? Ady has got more hate mail? Some people are so pathetic it is frankly unbelievable. I mean its hardly as if he forces anyone to watch his edit. Do they really have nothing better to do with their time than bitch at someone over something they can happily ignore?

I'll obviously move into apparent "fanboy" territory and say I loved Ady's ANH:R, and can't wait for this, and have the utmost faith that along with Harmy's restoration it will be the definitive ESB for me. If that makes me a fanboy so be it... I'm just grateful someone is doing the things Lucas should of done, and removing the things he shouldn't of "improved".

Nebula, I know your banned and probably a sock puppet from that pathetic website with the awful editer for which several members of this Forum are banned. But it just seems to me you one of those editors with a really small penis who feels threatened by Ady's abilities...

Ady thanks so much for doing the edit, I know you'll go on despite the moron haters, but thanks again for all your hard work!
