At this point, all that doesn't matter, the color changes have been released twice, they are no longer errors made by the color blind, they are definitive deliberate creative decisions, that's the way George Lucas and Lucasfilm want these films to look.
I'd agree with you if it wasn't for the fact that certain issues that resulted in an outcry among fans have been fixed. Luke's saber still reveals its prop-origins, but it isn't ROTJ-green anymore. The ADR is still all over the place as it always was, but at least better audio elements have been instated for the infamous Tarkin/Leia-exchange. The blue hatch has been recoloured, although they missed a shot.
Okay, the guys at Lucasfilm are only human. I suppose everyone could miss a few shots. It's when you combine those human errors with Lucas' obnoxious attitude regarding this historial revisionism and the PR-crap about "the best available quality" that things turn sour. Anyone can make a mistake, but these guys are apparently unable to admit them.
Evidently, Lucasfilm is just not the well-oiled machine we're supposed to believe it is. When it comes to handling their legacy, Lucas has the business mannerisms of Jabbe the Hutt, and his new staff have apparently been told not to actually give a shit. A damn shame.
It must seem as if I regret getting this release. I actually don't, cause it is still Star Wars, at least for a child of the 97 SE like me. But I am a bit bummed by the fact that I have lots of lesser films sitting on my shelf that have been treated better. But, by all means, those of you want to get it - make an informed purchase. Cause you won't be getting the "Ultimate Edition", sadly.
Yeah I completely agree with you because while I mentioned all the errors I noticed it doesn't bother me really since I am completely happy with this release and since the two big things wrong with the dvds being the main color errors where Luke's saber was green in ANH and the saber's interconnected in Jedi. Now that was the only thing that bugged me since it was right there in your face not like how some of the other errors may not be like right in your face and lasted for a few seconds.
And I'm with you too about not regretting this release because while I can complain about the color errors that are still there it doesn't change that fact that I love these movies and that they do look great on Blu-Ray. And yes not as best as most but as some reviewers and myself have pointed out it just adds to the nostalgia factor of the OT.
Not to keep agreeing with you or anything but I myself grew up in the SE era where those came out when I was still young though I can say I greatly remember watching the OT and even the Indie Trilogy every time it was on t.v. and watch the OUT all the time on my old VHS copies until the SE came out and yes those became the ones I would watch more often since they weren't as worn out at all. And honestly I really don't mind which version it is unless the story gets completely changed cus it's still Star Wars and while it may change every now and then which I've become use to and I enjoy seeing what new stuff or stuff is added in the next time they get released cus who knows maybe it could be some scenes we didn't even know of sometime in the future when they get released again. But though I doubt it since not many if any new scenes have been added to the Blu-Ray release.
Now on the main changes like the Krayt Dragon yell I honestly laughed so hard when I first heard it and I know in time I will get used to it. Now the Darth Vader one I wasn't so sure of even though I checked out the leaked version a couple of times but when I saw it on the Blu-Ray yes it does sound a bit weird at first but at least it is right at the end of Luke being tortured instead of all during him being tortured. Lastly the Ewoks blinking eyes I didn't really notice other than a few times when there were close ups.
