Purpose : To identify visual changes made to the film, between these two versions.
Process : Two films version are composited using the 'Difference Blending' mode. This renders pixels which are similar as black. Areas which are dissimilar show up in color and stand out to varying levels. This is good for spotting smaller quicker changes, but not good for finding subtle changes like removal of garbage mattes.

"There is a lot of what ends up being 'invisible' fixes," agrees Huebler. "That's the goal: when it's invisible that you don't notice that something glitched or there was a mistake. That could be very challenging to get to, as each one has its own creative decisions."

Recommended Viewing Method : Not recommended to be watched at release size (470 x 204), double or make it full screen. Also recommend watching at the fastest frame rate possible (without loss of frame display) 1.5x-2x for action scenes. Maybe 3x+ for dialog scenes, or if you've got a great set of eyes and video card.

Note B : 2004 Edit uses German HD broadcast from 2007, this explains the variation with the opening crawl and opening shot.
