I think that's meant to be Artoo on the comlink and they are debating what each beep means.

The off the cuff "Roger Rabbit" though wasn't probably intended for the final film.

P.S. yes I did mean moot in my previous post.

Actually, that scene's not bad...except for Hayden's flat acting. But otherwise, pretty good. Much better than Artoo & the Jets.

You do get some footage of the "bare" 3P0 in EP2 along with some footage of Padme giving him his coverings in the 3P0 suit 360 degree video commentary on disc 7:

Ew.

Are those ugly frames around all of the bonus features?

But he's making Artoo type beeps!!! Am I the only one seeing/hearing that??

I'm sure the beeps are a temp sound and they were eventually going to get the guy from Police Academy to loop it for them.

No, watch his line at 0:19 ... definitely meant to be Ani making those sounds.

Also, pretty sure those are temp-Artoo noises? They don't sound like Artoo himself.

Thanks for posting this, can you upload some others preferably from the OT.

I agree with another poster who said the Obi Wan getting lectured about the saber as well as him coming out of the swamp (the apocalypse now shot) would have been great to see.  Much preferred over those random animatic shots anyway.

I think the Maul eyes on Grievous in the animatic is just an ILMer guessing about the character.  They only work on sequences and are not privy to the script or even story they're working on.

Amusing if so; I remember way back when advocating that as an idea to make Grievious a more interesting character that actually had some sort of meaning to Obi-Wan. Really they should never have killed Maul in the first place and had him in the General's role.

So TPM wouldn't have a pay-off, and a characters whose only appeal is that he's a silent killing machine would be totally transformed.

I don't see it.

Basically the idea would be to have a visible Sith threat to distract Obi-wan, wanting to avenge Qui-gon. Not to mention explain why the Jedi don't seem to notice Sidious; they're all focused on finding Maul. Not to mention it could've given Maul screentime to develop beyond the that.

Really, one of the minor issues I had with the PT was the lack of an overarching villian like Vader (himself only the main badguy in ESB but still a visible threat and figurehead of evil in the others). Sure, Palpatine's there in the shadows, but each film essentially had a "new Vader". Maul could've fulfilled that if done properly.

The Grievous idea is more about making him relevant than resurrecting Maul. As he stands, he comes out of no where, and is merely a plot device solely to separate Obi-wan from Anakin (he's actually my least favorite SW character as he's just plain boring and near pointless). Since that's ALL he does, why not give some greater drive to Obi-wan. It would basically be the fight after Qui-gon's death to another level.

If you are a fan of the OT and love deleted scenes and special features then this set is for you.
Don't say that! Now I want them! But I'm only going to buy them used!

There's no need to buy the whole set...SilverWook already ordered just the bonus discs from ebay, and I may do the same.

Responding to the issue from earlier, RoflRick isn't trollish because he disagrees - I'm a firm believer that everyone is entitled to their opinion. He seemed trollish because it seemed like he was trying to stir up stuff. That's not an attack on RoflRick, though; he seems like a pretty cool guy.

As much as I hate the prequels, as a C-3PO fan, I would most likely murder a hobo if it meant being able to see that scene where Padme puts on his cool panels. I would never buy the Blu-Rays to see it, but I WOULD murder a hobo (probably).

I think the generalization that all Star Wars fans will moan and complain, but STILL hash out for crappy releases is false. It may be true for some fans, but plenty of people here, for example, are strong enough not to do it.

That was DEFINITELY an issue. The audience had no emotional connection with anything going on, because there was nothing to make an emotional connection TO. There's no clear protagonist, there's no real antagonist, or any single embodiment of the "bad guys." Maul was certainly promoted as a "new Vader" (the Hasbro toy packaging for TPM had Maul's face where Vader's face was for the OT action figures, etc), but he didn't DO anything.

I "like" reading comments about the Blurays on that other site. Things like:

"I for one LOVE the cyan tint. It makes AOTC match TESB even MORE now."

I suppose there are no words to respond to such a statement even if I had registered on the site.

Thanks! The one picture is an old publicity photo of his, and the other is photoshopped from a screencap of an old movie he was in. Didn't mean to take the thread off-topic, but I wanted to reply to you.

Guys, we did great bringing the box set down to two stars on Amazon, but the box set of only the OT is still rather high.  Could we focus on bringing that down too?  People who hate the prequels and (think) they like the OT might assume the whole box is so low because of the prequels, and thus only buy the OT and still get the crap.

I just tried to write a review for the OT blu-ray set and they told me I couldn't because I had already written a review (which was for the '04 DVD boxed set-LOL!!!) They really have to do something about that.

Anyway, I "edited" my review so now it's for the blu-rays instead.

Yeah Amazon's review system is garbage. I hate trying to read a review on a specific DVD or blu-ray release only to read dozens or hundreds of other reviews about a previous release. I can't fathom how they haven't changed that system yet. You would think people would complain to them about this all the time.

I love it too (Obi-wan need a small beard ) - the screen with Padme show perfectly what kind of romance it should have been : old school romance

Listening to the archival interviews commentary track for ROTJ it is pretty funny what George Lucas says about the scene where Vader pick up the Emperor now that he has added Vader's Nooooooo's:

Acting with masks is a very ancient tradition. It's the emotion of the story that can carry you through and the nature of cinema that you can switch shots you put on either side of the mask that tell you what the mask is thinking.

So younger George knew that the audience didn't need to hear what he was thinking to understand the scene. I'm really surprised that this comment made it onto the Blu-Ray, unless adding the No's was a last minute decision when everything else was finished.

Wait, that wasn't the 2004 commentary? That's the old one?
